A lifetime of Colors indeed!
These performances demand full attention, especially if played on the new audio system inside your new car, with the volume high enough to hear the subtle secondary melodies and overtones constructed by Schumann and Liszt and coaxed so beautifully from the piano by Pollack. A unique experience for most listeners, because most of us listen to music all too passively. The performer makes no apologies for having selected only four works, representing only two composers with sometimes very similar compositions, such as the final portion of the Schumann Fantasy, marked "Langsam getragen", which almost foreshadows the coming Liszt Mephisto. The selections are the musical workhorses of a true virtuoso. The remarkable palate of Colors could only have been painted over a lifetime of active performing and listening to one's inner self. This recording will no doubt become a collectors' item. .

Daniel Pollack's "Colors" etal., etal., etal.
For shorter works and unparalleled, grand style romantic playing, "First Kiss" and "Passionate Kiss"---there are no equals. I own every recording Daniel Pollack has made. His "Moscow Legendary. . . " is electrifying pianism of a younger Pollack - exciting beyond belief! The 2007, "Colors" brings us full circle to the Daniel Pollack who never ceases to bring the listener new insights, colors, nuances, shadings, eloquence no matter how often the listener has heard these works. I heard voices in the "Carnaval" I never knew existed! THE pianist of our time - beloved and cherished by many for so many years. May his voice always be heard!.

The Epitomy of Grand Romantic Pianism
I highly recommend it, even if, like me, you already own multiple recordings of these beautiful works. This is a phenomenal CD! From the drama and intimacy of the two Schumann pieces to the electric wizardry of the Liszt Funerailles and Mephisto Waltz, Pollack's performances represent the epitomy of grand romantic pianism.
