One of the best selling debuts EVER!
Already a 10x platinum seller in the UK, Scissor Sisters are adored all over the world. Five folks from New York called Scissor Sisters would release their debut album and make global history. Jake Shears is a genius and he writes awesome songs. You have to buy this CD to believe the experience!.

Mindblowing album.
This is an excellent album from a band who will be huge if they can keep up this standard. From the moment you hear the staccato beat piano intro to Laura, the first track, you will be hooked. Laura, Take your Momma, Filthy/Gorgeous are three instantly memorable songs.

I challenge anybody to listen to the first two tracks on this album and not buy a copy.

I LIVE for this band!
They aren't very big here, so I had to go out of my way to get every single track that wasn't released on the US CD. I'm an american and when I first heard "take your mama," I was hooked. I dragged my sister to one of their concerts, and got her hooked on them too. I worship the ground they walk on, and I HIGHLY recommend this CD. There aren't words to describe how much I love their music.

reminiscent of early Elton John + Glam Rock
Great Vocals, but even nicer piano work. I would highly recommend this Album if you are looking for something to change the atmosphere of a dull day to a high energy-feel good time. THey have a solid-cohesive sound. I must have for lovers of music. However, if you are a devot pink-floyd fan, you may not like their upbeat version of " Comfortably Numb" (track 5). .

Debut Shows Promise
"Take Your Mama" is an Elton John-esque, upbeat dance number and one of the better songs. The debut album of the "Scissor Sisters" is mostly a good attempt at reviving seventies pop music with a modern produced sound. The big hit "Comfortably Numb" is an interesting, but annoying song (after a few listens) that never quite catches the fever of the Bee Gees solid high falsettos. However, they do `try' to do an exact copy of the "Stayin' Alive" `Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah' sequence. "Laura" and "Return To Oz" seem to have some heart in them and supply a good start and finish to this album. It's all good, but never reaches the level it ought to. Perhaps the second album will have them focus more on their strengths. I would suggest the extended copy with the extra two songs, "Skins" (great guitar) and "Get it". These rival any song on the original.
