A must It isn't the first SW CD I'd
buy but a must have for songs like 99. This album has got some great tracks & stays in the
vein of My Brain Hurts.
.
There's a little Dirnt in my weasel
They got back together and made like 4 more. Mike Dirnt from Green day lends a helping hand to the Weasels with what was thought of us as their last album. The songs are very light in tone just a fun record and in some ways it takes a step back from Anthem but i really liks this album it reminds me more of My Brain hurts but obviously not as good. Best songs: " 99" ," if i was you", "i wrote holden caufield", "nobody likes you".
SW fans take notice - this is their best album!
Those who choose MBH appreciate awesome pop-punk music. In general there are two types of Screeching Weasel Fans: The ones who think "My Brain Hurts" is their best CD and the ones who think "Boogoda Boogada Boogada" is their best CD. Those who pick Boogada are people who like SW, but want to make it seem like they were into SW when they were unknown. . . maybe to add to their "punk credibility. " Boogada has a few great songs and a lot of throwaways. MBH is one of the best pop punk cds ever released by any band. However, this one is better!
All of the songs are great and with the exception of Johnny are You Queer (a cover) and Surf Goddess, these songs are fast and loud. This flow of this CD is also amazing and every song is placed in the perfect spot.
At the time this was released it was believed that this was the last SW cd. The guys were sick of each other (thats why Green Day Mike was on this cd) and Ben was probably beginning work on the Riverdales (which was just SW minus Jughead). At the time I thought this was perfect ending to this band. SW came back and released some good albums and one terrible one (Emo), but in my opinion, this was the band at their peak.
wake up
Boogada is only good if youre a die-hard SW fan who wants to hear their older stuff. Im sick of people putting this CD on the same level as Bark Like A Dog, which just plain sucked, and telling people that Boggda Boogada Boogada is the greatest SW album of all time. This CD is one of the best ones theyve ever put out. Like Anthem For A New Tomorrow, they stay away from the fun-catchy stuff you hear on Wiggle and My Brain Hurts and write some really good stuff. Take another listen.
Definately a step up from Anthem...
If you're hung up on that, you don't deserve this album. Green Day's bass player is on this album. With catchy, melodic music, this album is a step back towards My Brain Hurts and Wiggle (I like those two albums), but makes a slight detour towards the pop genre.
