This is Sepultura's version of Soulfy's primitive pretty much with being released a year apart from each other and both having several guests. I must admit, this is better then Against, its an improvement, but its still very weak at certain points, filler is evident, some parts do not make sense and this is the only Sepultura CD where no lyrics are given. Derrick still doesn't fit in with Sepultura, but as they progress, he is doing a better job. One reason I feel is that Derrick doesn't play guitar on the songs, where as Max did. Now to me, that's a type of consistency problem, you may see pictures with him holding a Guitar but he only uses that for playing older Sepultura songs live and in music videos. It doesn't label him as playing guitar anywhere within the CD insert.

But the pros, are that the quality has increased (in comparison to Against, which has worse) and Igor's drumming still rules. Andreas and Paulo do a good job too, but are weaker in comparison to past efforts. They showed off their ability to experiment by creating Nation as a Concept album, having Sepultura create this perfect utopia. At times it works and at others it falls flat. For example the opener Sepulnation sounds very Nu-Metal and unfocused. But then there are parts like the song Politricks (my personal favorite) featuring Jello Biafra as a guest. Anyone who likes Jello at all will instantly love this slow, creepy song. Other interesting songs include Tribe to a Nation, and the 2 closing songs Water (a strangely slow beautiful song, where derricks singing actually works) and the song Valtio (Finnish for Union) which features the Finnish cello group Apocalyptica, and is very, very Hypnotizing. Other then that most of the other songs have flaws of some kind.

As far as the Concept part, in between certain songs there are often people speaking in different languages, I know one of them is German, but none are in English, so I don't know what they mean yet, I assume that they are saying what they want in a nation but don't take my word for it.

If you want to get nation, then go with the Import version with the 5 bonus tracks, they are all very interesting, 3 covers, a demo and a live song. Since those are really the reason why you are looking here I will go over them.

Rise Above - Awesome Black Flag cover

Revolt (Demo) - The original is 56 seconds long, yet this is 3:46 seconds, now does that make sense? It almost seems as if they screwed up and inserted the demo as the final product.

Roots Bloody Roots (Live) proving that they will still play the great songs at concerts, this one is definitely the best of the 5 bonus songs and is very interesting to hear Derrick singing this.

Overall, it's better then Against, but still, this is Sepultura we are talking about. This is definitely something for the hardcore fan. Don't pay full price for it and don't pay full price for the import, get it used, I got it for 6 bucks. I think I made a wise decision, so why don't you?

The vocals are amazing, and Igor does a superb job on drums! If you have never listened to Sepultura, this is the first album you should buy and trust me , you will love it. this is one of the best Sepultura albums ever. Peace!.

i thought this was an awesoome cd,sepulnation and tribe to a nation are my favorite,there are better and the 5 bonus songs make this album the one to have, maybe not the best sepultura album,but this is a must have for sepultura fans.
