AWESOME ALBUM!!!
I was very pleased to see they came out with some other albums and this one actually rivals their big debut for me. I loved the debut album by Seven Mary Three (SM3) and heard their radio cuts a 100 times growing up and have just bought a cd copy of that album to replace the cassette I wore out.
This album has it all- good hard hitting signature sound songs, good power ballads, great down tempo acoustic songs and a good flow from start to finish.

Also, the instrumentation and orchestration on this album are superb! I heard what I could swear are Timpani drums on there as well as some really well placed triangle that adds a lot of flavor to the album. Track 4 sounds like the melody line is lead from the bass guitar and has a killer bridge and a pocket groove. A really nice Piano song with a concert hall sound and a track that starts with a really organic and open sounding drum set intro. Which leads me to my next point, the recording quality and sonic engineering are top notch. Being an engineer myself, the album is heaven to listen to. All parts are heard and balanced and everything fits together perfect! Buy this album!.

My favorite Seven Mary Three album
I'm not sure why a lot of 7M3 fans don't seem to care for this one as much as their others, but I include this release as one of my top 30 favorite albums ever, and that's not an easy place to get in my collection. I'm particularly a fan of Seven Mary Three's more mellow yet spine-tinglingly soulful songs and this release is chock full of that.

If your favorite song on American Standard was "Lame", I'm willing to bet that you will LOVE Rock Crown.

Great CD
The lyrics are brilliant. Rock Crown by Seven Mary Three is a great CD, the songs are powerful and well written. After listening to this CD you want to hear more. Excellent!.

Rock Crown wins THE Rock Crown
Great hard songs "Rock Crown", "Honey of Generation", "Home Stretch". Just a wonderful CD. Great slow songs "Lucky", "Oven", "Times Like These", "Houdini's Angels". . . Some of the best stuff to receive little airplay and is very creative. 7M3 SHOULD BE HUGE! "I think that people get tired of themselves. Is that why the TV's on all the time?" I love it. .

a little different than what it used to be...
A friend of mine and I became real 7M3 junkies, in a sense. Back in 95 when American Standard started getting radio play, I got into the Southern Alternative sound--Sister Hazel, Seven Mary Three, etc. We rode around in my old Taurus listening to American Standard constantly. So, in 97, when Rock Crown came out my friend bought the CD and we rocked to Needle Can't Burn all the way from Morganton to Carowinds in Charlotte. I didn't give the softer songs a chance then, and I was completely turned off by Honey of Generation. Well, I'm still turned off by Honey, and I don't think that will ever change. But now, listening to the CD(which I haven't heard a single time since summer of 97) is a beautiful escape. Needle Can't Burn is now an awesome trip back in time to the summer I was 19 and getting ready to finally move off to college. Listening to songs like Houdini's Angels and Lucky really show me a side of 7M3 that we don't see much of anymore. I'm not good at describing how such lyrics can make you feel, but the songs seem personal and heartfelt, and the musical accompaniment is perfect. I did go on to buy Orange Avenue and Economy of Sound, but somehow they just don't compare, unfortunately. This one will go down in History as one of my classics. I smile when I hear it. I think of those days before life really hit, when the music really struck a chord, and was distributed not to make big bucks, but to express a band's talents. .
