Because it's the ONE album that I keep coming back to. But even so...
Because I think it deserves that much!!!
First off, I know that for all the Silverchair fans out there, their latest: Young Modern seems quite the departure from their earlier stuff. I don't think I can give Silverchair's latest work the best review here, but you know, I'm going to give it a try. Though to me, you could kinda see this transformation coming. (I'm thinking back to Diorama with all of the orchestral work on that. ) But who cares, right? We're talking about Young Modern!!!
And what can I say? To me, it is like a lullaby of sorts for grown-ups. I'm thinking about the song 'Reflections of a Sound. ' It's the kind of song that after you've had a very long day battling the bulls and the bears out there (and who hasn't?), you can just kinda just let it engulf you and take all your cares away.
And I can't get over all the fun Daniel Johns seems to be having when he belts out Mind Reader!!! It's like it's got this kicky little keyboard thing going through out it. And it just moves along, you know?
Even the song Insomnia just seems so. . . I don't whimsical, you can't help but nod your head along with its beat.
Though my personal favorites on this album are Those Thieving Birds. . . and If You Keep Losing Sleep.
Again, I know how a lot of people really miss Silverchair's old sound and how they really wish this could get back to it. . . well, maybe next time folks?
Though if I could speak to Silverchair personally, I'd tell them that their true fans will stick with them no matter what!!! I know I will.
.
Are you listening, or are you faithless like the others?
Waiting All Day, Reflections of a Sound, The Man That Knew Too Much, All Across the World. Young Modern is original, spontaneous, and fun.
Mind Reader. . . . . "You're not a private detective, take off your telephone shoes".
Thieving Birds and Young Modern Station!!!!!!!!!!
After getting kind of tired of the same old, this album has definitely rejuvinated my love of music.
"That's all that I want to do, just keep coming up with new, interesting things, and remain inspired, and stay in love with music. Don't get complacent and don't just sit comfortably on the ideas you've already got and milk them. It's better to use them once and then move on. "
Daniel Johns

This band never goes away
You figure by now they would have vanished into oblivioun after grunge died. This band never goes away. However, they keep re-inventing themselves. This isn't as good as their early work, but it's still good. I give them credit for changing with the times.
They took the drug! Gleemonex! Damn!
I saw Silverchair in one of their first concerts in NSW in 1994, and this is not the same band. If you ever have seen the movie Brain Candy by the Kids in The Hall, this is like a mirror image of the transformation of the band in that movie, from hard rock with awesome riffs and chunky, fun to listen to guitars, to singing about Happiness Pie. I know artists have to 'grow' and 'transform', but this sounds more like Drop City circa 1995, also from OZ. Too Bad.
This is not the silver chair I was expecting
This new Silver chair is not at all what I want to listen too. I am used to the Silver chair that rocked. I am so diappointed with the songs on this album. Not one rockin song like on their first album. I am glad I listened to it on here first before spending my money on it.
