Smashing Pumpkins - Disarm Audio CD
A fair review of the Smashing Pumpkins "Disarm" Audio CD. Please note that the below review is the views of the authors, and authors only. You can get a complete list of all

The First Siamese Dream Single Buy that instead. This used to be exclusive, but not anymore with Pisces Iscariot. You'll get a ton more b-sides. And just buy Siamese Dream along with it or download this track. It's not hard to find. If you don't want all that, then just get this.
Anyways, the song "Disarm" is pretty good, but not as good as some other Siamese Dream tracks such as "Cherub Rock" or "Today. " There's not enough rock for my taste really. But if you like this better then go for it. "Disarm" is sort of acoustic, and I can't figure out what it's about. After that is the track "Soothe," which was recorded in Billy Corgan's (the singer and guitarist of this band) bedroom and it's a demo version with good quality. This is the first on Pisces Iscariot. Then we have the final track "Blew Away" which features James Iha (guitarist and part-time vocalist) on vocals. It's ok. That's all for this.
The other releases of Disarm have been better. The next one is called "Heart" (this one was called "Smile") and it is way better. Look at my review for that one. There is also a VERY rare one that features the title track along with the outtake "Siamese Dream. " This was not included on the album "Siamese Dream. " I think it should have been because it would have been the self-titled track. Oh well. Check out those they're a little better.
Overall Grade 7/10 (Not so hot these days with Pisces Iscariot).
EXCELLENT
It's one of Billy's masterpiece solos. I must say this single does not have my favorite hardcore music on it, but it is pretty awesome! Disarm is okay, I'm not a big fan of it. It's acoustic with bells. Haunting. Then we have Fleetwood Mac's Landslide. It's pretty good, it was on Rotten Apples (Greatest Hits). They did an excellent job covering it! It was also on Pisces Iscariot This seems to be one of those "cover" singles, because next we have Thin Lizzy's "Dancing In The Moonlight. " This is like one of the Pumpkins' greatest songs EVER! And it wasn't on Pisces Iscariot! It's slow, but I love it! You just can't resist Billy's voice when it flows along with the music like that. This is a must-have, but it's sadly out of print. You can find it on "Rarities and B-sides" on MSN Music. Search for MSN music, look up the Smashing Pumpkins, go to Rarities and B-sides and scroll down the track listing until u find Disarm and then about 4 songs later you'll see "Landslide" and "Dancing In The Moonlight. " Sign up and go for em'! :-D.
Best Siamese Dream-era single, hands down.
I must say "Disarm" was the best single released off the Siamese Dream album. This is quite an amazing single. The B-sides here are quite nice. "Soothe" is very very soothing and "Blew Away" is a nice Iha song. You can find both of these on "Pisces Iscariot", however, which would be a better deal than hunting down this single. Unless of course you are a collector. Then it is a necessity.
Disarm + 2 Quality B-Sides
It features intelligent and touching lyrics, and very emotive music. Billy Corgan's 'Disarm' is one of the Smashing Pumpkins best-known songs, and for good reason. The video clip fits the song perfectly, matching the whimsical and bittersweet mood of the song.
This single is a gem because of the quality throughout. Both 'Landslide' and 'Dancing In The Moonlight' are amazing tracks, and show how the Smashing Pumpkins can cover a song and make it their own.
'Landslide' is a Stevie Nicks cover and is the highlight of the Smashing Pumpkins' 'Pisces Iscariot' B-Sides collection. It is Corgan at his best, with emotional, soaring vocals and powerful music. It is 100 times better than the recent Dixie Chicks cover. Sometimes I wonder how this song was never a #1 single. . .
'Dancing In The Moonlight' is the final track, and for most Pumpkins' fans, the reason for purchasing this single (seeing as it isn't on any other album). It's an awesome track (also a cover) and holds true to the restrained and moody feel of the cd. A friend of mine lists this as his favourite Smashing Pumpkins song. Corgan's beautiful vocals compliment the melancholic instrumentation, adding to the overall mood.
Anyone who picks this up will be thoroughly inmpressed - I was lucky enough to come by it in a second hand cd store. This is why the Smashing Pumpkins were as great as they were.
This song is sooooo beautiful!
I was in for a surprize. At first when I looked at the title of the song when I was checking out siamese dream in a music store, I would think disarm was one of their rock ballads that Billy screams and yells. This is definetely the most beautiful song Billy Corgan has ever written in his carreer. It's better than Today, To Forgive, 1979, Beautiful, and Stand Inside your Love all together! I love the Cello and the Violins on here. I haven't quite gotten siamese dream yet, but I have listened to this single and siamese dream. "Oooh, how the years burn. . . I used to be a little boy, so old in my shoes. and what I choose is my choice, what's a boy supposed to do? The killer in me is the killer in you. My love, I send this smile over to you. " This song is ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY the BEST SP song ever written. Get it! It is AMAZING! Although, IT is only #1, there are I think 5 parts to the single. So about 5 singles would cover it. Peace.
