A change for the worse
I am all for growing as an artist, but the album as a whole is just routine and spiritless. It is hard to believe this is the same great band that put out Gish, Siamese Dream, and Pisces Iscariot. Radiohead has shown the world what good change is all about. The only song that lives up to what the pumpkins were is the first one, To Sheila, so just download that one from amazon. This truly was the beginning of the end.

Flawless
This record is every emotion rolled into one, it is perfect. For Billy to go from his unique hard rock style to piano / acoustic / electronica and do it this well is actually really scary. People do not know what they are missing.

I sold my copy more than 5 years ago
Everything else sounds like uninspiring and lifeless folk music, with a few that are at least somewhat decent. It deserves only 2 stars from me because out of 16 tracks, it only has 4 wonderful songs on it, To Sheila, Once Upon a Time, Apples + Oranjes, and Behold! The Night Mare. The music portrays a dark emotion and lacks catchiness, unlike previous Pumpkins albums. This is the album that most likely made me lose interest in them, and I stopped following their music in later years. I've only heard a few from Siamese Dream and I have Mellon Collie, and I can tell you immediately those are must have records, if you chose to be a fan.

Top Five Albums of All Time
It is the epitamy of 90s rock/ alternative rock/ nu age music. The Smashing Pumpkins's "Adore" album is in my top five of all time. It totally encapsulates everything that the era of 90s (and the 80s children) were going through.

The melodies are beautiful and (as some say) haunting. There are some great songs with some killer background bass that make it fully enjoyable to listen to in your car. There are also some fantastic songs that seem to help you "drift away" into your own mind. It is simply a masterpiece- the whole entire album.

I use this cd to write my books, to meditate to, and sometimes to drift asleep.

This is definitely up there with other Smashing Pumpkins albums, such as Melancholy and Infinite Sadness. Great, great work.

I cried when they broke up in the first time (2000). . . and they haven't seemed to (quite) get their music back on track since they got back together in 2006. "Adore" is one of their best pieces pre-break-up and it's still one of the greatest albums of all time.

5 Star Music, 2 Star Vinyl Issue
If you haven't checked it out, do yourself a favor. This acoustic-ish album by The Smashing Pumpkins is one of their best. This vinyl version is an alternate Mono mix that sounds great and is enclosed within great, colorful artwork on the front.

Manufacturing issues:

The material of the sleeve that encloses the vinyl is cheap recycled paper that seems ever ready to absorb water. I don't think durability is what they had in mind with this release.

The first copy I received has a bunch of scratches, skip-riddled tracks, and 3 loops on side 2 of the first disc. It was hectic to listen to it. Everything else was perfect. The second copy had a loop on side 1 and 2 of the first disc, and a few skips on side 2 of the first disc. While the second copy isn't perfect, I'm not going to exchange it again because it's not worth it.
