Nice to hear a single again from the Pumpkins
The album starts with the amazing "Ava Adore" which anyone who comes here has also heard. And it's from the last album where they would actually release a commercial single stateside. I have heard this single before; I'm probably going to buy it sometime when I get the cash. I have heard both of the B-sides though.

Neither are actually spectacular, but they are both pleasant. "Czarina" is a nice fingerpick acoustic track from the Pumpkins and "Once in a While" is nice to hear. It's interesting that there are a couple of B-sides in this era that had James Iha whenever none of the songs that made the album were even co-penned by him.

Don't be too tempted...
This single includes the fantastic 'Ava Adore,' full of catchy lyrics, and though it starts off with a somewhat strange electronic beat, it blends in with Billy Corgan's sining as well as D'arcy and James's guitaring (or are those electronic as well?) Well the other two songs are unreleased in any other albums! Wow! Don't be tempted. The single has three songs, much like other Smashing Pumpkins singles. They include mellow drumming, poor guitaring, and Billy's naisily voice talking. Don't get this single, except if you are a huge Smashing Pumpkins fan AND MUST OWN EVERYTHING BY SMASHING PUMPKINS! The standout of this single is 'Ava Adore', not the other two: 'Czarina' and 'One in a While'. I would encourage the listener to buy 'Adore' by Smashing Pumpkins, which includes another great song other than 'Ava Adore', which is 'Perfect'. Though Adore has been criticized for it's mellowness, some of you may enjoy it. If you prefer the more rockish tunes, definitly check out some other titles by Smashing Pumpkins, especially 'Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness' and 'Siamese Dream'.

Alright...
The single "Ava Adore" was the first one to release from their not very succsessfull fourth album "Adore", in 1999. A high quality single from the band's most barren period of their career. The title track is one of my favourite Pumpkins songs -very anthemic and romantic with lyrics about crashing cars and pulling teeths in the name of love. Except from the title track, these b-sides(Ones in a While and Czarina) are just beautiful two lullabies. Unlike their L. P. Billy and his friends go very mellow and even though some of the melodies get a bit annoying at times, the touching vocals and naiveness in his lyrics makes us forget of those times. Nice, but not a must-buy.

This is not here.
I guess it's both. This album, after their "ground-breaking", "hit", "smash", "top-selling" double album Mello Collie needed to be either a totally different album or more of the same.

I am not sure but it is definitely different. If you expect to hear more songs like "Zero" or "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" forget about it.

This album has much more refined emotions and ideas and is a beautiful thing. It is very enjoyable and touching to see the lighter side of the Pumpkins when it is not just a song or two on an album. They purge their quiet side on this album and do it exquisitely. Like many albums that are different by an artist, you may not like it at first (as did I)but after the second time through you realize the difference which is just as good as the previous songs they produced.

An Excellent Continuation to "Adore"
In my opinion, the best song on this single is "Once In A While", but the other two songs are really beautiful works of art as well. I really love the style of "Adore", and the singles for "Ava Adore". Billy Corgan has shown the world that he can make any kind of music, and make it sound excellent. Not only has he mastered songwriting, and the guitar, but the piano as well. I consider Billy Corgan to be the "Mozart" of modern alternative music. This is one man who has really accomplished it all. I strongly recommend that if you are a fan of the Smashing Pumpkins, or a fan of alternative music in general, go pick up "Adore", along with this singles, and I promise you'll like it.
