Underrated This was hyped as a big comeback album, along with Human Touch after 5 years since he released Tunnel of Love. This is by far Bruce's most underreated album. This album has some of his best songwritning on it, he does use a different band than the E Stree Band. The only single that he released was Better Days. I love the song Living Proof, The Big Muddy, and Leap of Faith. Book of dreams is a slower song on this album, so is the big muddy and If I should Fall Behind. Just listening to the lyrics, you know Bruce was really in a happy time in his life. He got married and became father.
The Best
Probably my favorite Springsteen album, and that's saying a lot since I own everything he's put out. . . . I can't figure out why you don't hear more about this one. . . . . . . . great both lyrically and musically.
These are underrated
After listening, I think I like them more now than I did when they came out! They are some of Bruce's best work and all the better for being pretty under appreciated. I recently purchased these (Lucky Town & Human Touch) again after my other copies had been stolen over 10 years ago.
underrated gem...
I think Lucky Town is the stronger album. there are some great songs on this collection that was released in unison with HUMAN TOUCH. Tunes like BETTER DAYS, LUCKY TOWN, IF I SHOULD FALL BEHIND, MY BEAUTIFUL REWARD are promises of hope and a longing for better days. I'd say LUCKY TOWN is one of Bruce's greatest and most underrated albums. .
Right down the middle
Really, I don't see why this is so despised when eighth-rate works like Nebraska and Tunnel of Love are lauded: it's no Born to Run, and it's sheer mediocrity, but I'd take mediocrity over awfulness any day. With the exception of Book of Dreams, there isn't a bad song on this album! Several mediocre ones (Big Muddy; Leap of Faith; Local Hero; Souls of the Departed), but several I like (title song; Living Proof; If I Should Fall Behind; Better Days; My Beautiful Reward).
