An album that will love on forever"
This album is a triumph. "Hell's brewin', dark sun's on the rise. The Boss and the E Street Band somehow eclipse their earlier classics. Unthinkable. But sure enough, they soar into the stratosphere with "The Rising. " .
A new sound!
I appreciate their sound. It's clear that this doesn't have the signature E-street sound, but that's what sets it apart. And since I didn't listen to this as a 9/11 CD, I can enjoy the music in another way. It doesn't have to be 9/11.
Knowing only the popular tunes, The Rising, City of Ruins, Lonesome Day, I was surprised that there was some nice songs here, some with a hard rock sound and some really nice ballads. This is a real treat!. . . . . MzRizz

Profound and haunting...a masterpiece
Once I heard this,it became more than just music. This is my favorite Springsteen album, but for a different reason. It's not just about Sept. 11- it's about love and loss in general. I lost the love of my life to a surprise heart attack, and this cd articulates so much the feelings, the profound sadness, the coldness of life going on unimpeded. "I wake from Paradise, and I wait for Paradise". He nailed that one. This music may not heal, but it has comforted me in ways I can't express. If you're hurting, give this one a try. Thanks, Boss.
Bruce at his finest
It's almost a year since it was first released, and nearly 3 million concert tickets have been purchased to see this stuff done live. . so it's not just me.
It's an album about our entire existence. . . not just living through that fateful day 9-11-01. Bruce brings us through the lowest of lows and reminds us that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It is not another misunderstood anthem like Born in the USA. It is another masterpiece of rock and roll, reminding us that "everything will be okay"
If you don't have it yet. . . you need to get it and listen to it. . . and then, listen to it again!.
A JOB FOR THE BOSS
" The words from a fan to Bruce Springsteen that allegedly helped inspire this incredible album. "We need you man. This album, while staying true to classic Springsteen, also shows the Boss's growth and understanding of the times.
With the message of hope and faith, this album is constantly uplifting, soul searching, and inspirational. Like a party out of darkness, as seen with the irresistable track Mary's Place. Though most of the songs encourage hope, like Waitin On A Sunny Day, some tracks are a bit darker and reflect the despair following 9-11, such as You're Missing and Paradise. One doesn't doubt Springsteen's ability to get through to society after hearing and obeying his call to "come on rise up" in My City of Ruins. And we get to see a more abstract and unconventional Bruce in Worlds Apart.
All in all, this is one album that no fan, or American for that matter, can do without. The Rising is absolutely essential. Once again, the Boss came through for us. Thanks Boss.
