A good variety of music
Each song is unique in its own way. This album is great because all of the songs sound different. That's a great thing about sum 41, you never get sick of them because all of their songs are different.

Chuck
They're not. Getting this album on Itunes (sorry Amazon) I expected Sum 41 to be a similar punk band to Blink 182. This album isn't punk or anything like AKNF, which was kind of like Blink's Enema to the State. Sum is a great well rounded band that can play punk songs, metal songs, and ballads all equally well. The only thing that can be criticized for on this album is that a lot of there songs sounds like other songs done by different bands. If you don't know Sum very well then if you like System of a Down, Linkin Park, Green Day, Metallica, and Breaking Benjamin then you will like Sum 41.
1. Intro: 6/10 It's a cool build up to the album, but again it's just an intro.
2. No Reason: 9/10 A good leadoff song with a catchy chorus. The drumming is very good.
3. We're All to Blame: 7. 5/10 Sounds a lot like "Chop Suey" of System of a Down. Good mix of slow and fast paced music. Shouldn't have been the first single.
4. Angels With Dirty Faces: 6. 5/10 This is not a great song. Probably worst on the album.
5. Some Say: 9. 5/10 Most punk song on the album. Has that kind of "sketchy" guitar if you know what I mean. Frusciante does it very well for the chilly peppers.
6. The Bitter End: 10/10 This song has a killer thunderous riff and excellent guitar solos. The drumming is fast paced and the lyrics are also very good.
7. Open Your Eyes: 7. 5/10 This song sounds like it would be in a dumb teen fighter movie(ahem Never Back Down). The beat is reslly good as it gets faster and the guitar solo sounds like Tom Morello which is pretty awesome.
8. Slipping Away: 10/10 This is the softest song on the album. As soon as I put it on I just mellow out completely. It is a depressing song, but strong emotions make a strong song.
9. I'm Not the One: 6/10 This song is boring and sounds a lot like There's No Solution and Angels With Dirty Faces. It starts strong though.
10. Welcome to Hell 9. 5/10 Upbeat with the best bass playing on the album. Now you have to take a guy named Cone seriously.
11. Pieces: 10/10 This is the best song on the album. I remember breaking up with my girlfriend and then listening to this song. It kinda made me upset, but that's just how moving this song is. I guess that's what this songs about anyway.
12. There's No Sloution: 7/10 An ok song. I like the guitar, but the chorus is annoying. Very Linkin Park esque.
13. 88: 9/10 This song puts all Sum 41 styles in it by going punk, hard, and soft. This song is like a war. It starts kind of tough because the idea of war isn't light. Then it get's soft so this would be where people are afraid of the war. Then the punk starts coming in as the soldiers get ready. Then the metal starts and so would the fighting. Then it gets soft again so the war would seem to be over, but people are in too much of shock to be sure.
13. Get Back(Rock Remix): 9/10 Ludacris kills it on this one. He didn't need Sum, but they still sounded good in the background.

such a great album from one of the most underrated bands today
Granted, I listen to some blink and like their stuff too, but this band is way different than them, and, despite 'underclass hero' and their earlier stuff, I DO NOT consider Sum 41 a pop-punk band at all. Okay, anyone who associates Sum 41 with blink-182 is a retard. There is almost nothing pop-punk about this album at all, and this album is amazing.

1. Intro - Pretty cool lead-in for 'No Reason', but not actually a song (7/10).

2. No Reason - Catchy chorus, and a very upbeat, yet still agressive, song. Good start to the album (7. 5/10).

3. We're All to Blame - Such an amazing, yet bipolar song. I say bipolar because it has numerous shifts between heavy/agressive and soft. What a shame this song didn't get the airplay it deserved as a single (9/10).

4. Angels With Dirty Faces - I LOVE the beginning to this song - it's just so dark and dismal. This song is very agressive and metal/punk-ish. Very underrated song (9/10).

5. Some Say - Very nice song. The first light one of the album - very well-produced and structured, plus some simple, yet beautiful vocals (8/10).

6. The Bitter End - Such great guitar and drum work on this song. This track is easily the band's heaviest to date (8. 5/10).

7. Open Your Eyes - Best part is the guitar solo, but probably one of the least-memorable tracks on the album (6. 5/10).

8. Slipping Away - VERY similar chord progression to 'Somewhere Out There' by Our Lady Peace. Still, this a very soft, emotional track, and is very well-done. Nice orchestra bit, too (8. 5/10).

9. I'm Not the One - Starts out very Linkin Park-ish, and sounds like a hybrid of that bend as well as themselves throughout. There's a pretty metal bridge, but this is one of my least favorites on the album (6/10).

10. Welcome to Hell - I love the way this song ends. Overall, this song is very Offspring-like, but still with a Sum feel. Very punk, but nothing special (7/10).

11. Pieces - Don't know why the hell they named it 'Pieces' and not 'Perfect', but despite the naming faux-pas, this song is terrific. Soft but powerful and one of my favorites from this band (9/10).

12. There's No Solution - While 'I'm to the One' was kind of like Linkin Park, this song is a bit too similar for my liking (6/10).

13. 88 - This song is absolutely amazing. It starts off agressive, then transitions into a nice, softer piano bit, and then into a pop-punkier verse, and, after awhile, turns totally metal. The drumming in this song, like in the whole album, is fantastic. The metal part of this song is some of the best work Sum has ever produced. The last two minutes are all filler, no killer, but the other three minutes of the song make up for it (9. 5/10).

You should chuck this CD
I mean, you can't always sing about chicks and skateboarding. There's nothing with getting more serious with your music as you age. But, this just doesn't seem to fit Sum 41 and the image they created. It's too quick of a depature. It's like that friend you have who goes to college their freshman year and then come back after a semester "civilized". They criticize your coffee, and are now "above" acting like a kid. Too fast Sum 41, too fast.

mature CD for a hard bashing crashing play it loud band
Great music and lyrics for a band that knows how to rock hard!. Sum41 grew up musically and got creative with this album without management or record label telling them what to do.
