TFF fans
Purchased this for Schrodingers Cat but found other songs on cd that I like even better. Enjoy this cd alot. My Life in the Suicide Ranks- very underproduced, just jamming here and Roland is a genius here. When In Love With A Blind Man is another very good track, with alot of Curt Smith. Lord Of Karma is very Hendrix-like, highly recommended for the Roland fan. Has a breathy thing going on that is VERY interesting. Bloodletting Go- probably one of my favorite TFF songs of all time, if not my very favorite. (It sounds as if Roland really has his heart in it here. ) Pharoahs- haunting, beautiful song. Can listen to this one over and over and just drift away. I recommend this cd to the hard-core Roland Orzabal fan. It is just a little different and the Roland fan would appreciate it most. BUT, Pharoahs and Bloodletting Go are for anyone who loves good, good music.

THE KILLER B'S
this is the collection of b-sides that are nowehere to be found. FINALLY, the killer b-sides of one of the greatest british bands in the world! saturnine, martial and lunatic indeed!

when this record came out in 1996, i REJOICED! the songs here are the ones missing in my entire TFF collection before. the songs here were even digitally remastered and - before the release of the remastered TFF albums - sounded even better than the original album releases.

each song here belongs to a previously commercially released single. for example, "the big chair" was the b-side of shout; "pharoahs" was the b-side of everybody wants. . . ; "when in love with a blind man" was the b-side of head over heels, etc. all the songs here are TFF in their unguarded moments. . . without the thought of commercialism and just playing their own type of music.

buy it: if you are a hardcore TFF fan and wanna hear what they really sound like from 1983 to 1993 through their genuinely crafted b-side singles!

avoid it: if you are only a casual TFF fan looking for their commercially-released tracks!

this album actually completes your collection!

when you but the remastered first three albums of TFF, you will find additional tracks that could bery well fit in this cd, such as "broken revisited" (seems like the original version of broken), "the conflict" from their early years 1983-1985, and the original version of "johnny panic and the bible of dreams. ".

A must for Tears Fans

There are early versions of some of their later hits and quite a few
great songs that never found a home on their first 3 Albums. While there are some lame tracks but the rest is fascinating,
a peek behind the scenes of the best British band since the Beatles.

.

Excellence in Variety
In an age where many bands toss out new CDS with the majority being from old albums and 2 or 3 new songs, this CD is refreshing. I received this CD for Christmas and wow! Each and every song is different, but in a few you catch a hint of songs to come. Everything on it is unique and different from previous or later Tears for Fears CDs. It's very mellow and relaxing.

If your even a remote Tears for Fears fan this is a must have as it's quite enjoyable!
.

Disappointment
In this case, I stand by my general rule. As a general rule, when I purchase a CD of outtakes and rare cuts that didn't make it to any official releases, I don't expect much in quality. Don't believe the many biased TFF who give this CD 5 stars just because they are devoted to the group. This collection is interesting but not a must have for ALL TFF fans. But I am keeping mine :-).
