Customer Reviews
Affordable Introduction
I was familiar with the first four singles on this collection, but wanted to hear a bit more Tears for Fears material without committing to the full studio albums. People seem to really dislike these 20th Century Masters "Best Of" collections, but they've been quite useful to me in that they have allowed me to (affordably) explore an artist's catalog beyond just the radio hits.

I think the record company nailed it perfectly with the Tears for Fears 20th Century Masters album. They picked the band's best known singles, added some deeper cuts, cleaned up the sound considerably, and presented them in a very affordable package. You get about an hour's worth (more than the typical 20th Century Masters disc) of material, including all of the band's radio hits, digitally remastered, all for about half the cost of the average CD.

The Best of Tears for Fears: the 20th Century Masters Millennium Collection is an ideal introduction to one of the 80's better pop acts. It provides a great overview of the band's catalog to the casual fan (like me). Even if you just want to get the band's biggest hits in one place, it's hard to beat this compilation in terms of price and sound quality.

Seeds From Love
Although they've been for the better with fans like the recent returns of Genesis and The Police to the stage, where die hard fans have anxiously awaited for years, there also have been for the worse, when Culture Club announced they'd reunite, many of them felt angered that they weren't going to have Boy George with them on the road. With The Past Few years, we've seen a lot of classic 80's groups returning to tour again. That has also been said with Tears For Fears too. Although the pair of Curt Smith and Richard Orzabal did return, many people just weren't all that interested in them, just as the case with this hits album.

The 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best Of Tears For Fears is a single disc budget retrospective of the 80's duo and what they brought out to so many listeners. The collection is one of the more improved albums in the music series from Universal. The songs have all been restored nicely in reflecting the highs and lows from Curt & Richard. the collection includes a lot of classic tracks, mainly reflecting on their U. S. breakthrough from Songs From The Big Chair and The Seeds Of Love. The collection includes great guilty pleasure hits including Everybody Wants To Rule The World, the haunting #1 smash Shout, the soulful and driven Sewing The Seeds Of Love. The collection also includes lesser-known songs like Advice From The Young At Heart and Break It Down Again. Sadly though, with other hits collections from Tears For Fears out, including the recent 2006 Gold double-album that have much more to offer, many fans might want a bit more.

All in all, Tears For Fears 20th Century Masters isn't bad collection and a decent re-introduction for those who've missed out on them over the years, but it isn't actually the best hits collection from them. I'd recommend that you purchase the 2001 Best Of Tears For Fears collection instead. With this record missing songs like Woman In Chains and Closest Thing To Heaven, this record doesn't feel like it wants to rule the world.

Not Very Good
This CD also leaves out a few of TFF's early hits-Pale Shelter and Mad World. As a die-hard fan of this band, I would say that this is not a very good collection of their songs to start with, first off, this has the song "Phaorahs", which has it's own bussiness being on another CD and not really being on a "Best Of" CD. The way that this collection is thrown together says that it's best to buy their 1992 hits collection. .
