Now= Wow! TYA was a BAND that happened to have Alvin as their guitarist at one point. All of the people carping about Alvin Lee's absence on this need to go back and listen again. Mr. Gooch's playing is as good and not as repetitive as Mr. Lee's. He does get docked a bit for his weak voice, but Alvin wasn't much better, so it becomes a wash. The best part of this disc is hearing one of the best English rock BANDS back and kickin' booty!! For straight-ahead rock music this cd is hard to beat!!!!.
False Advertising.
Though it's a decent CD, after I bought the album and found out the truth, I felt cheated. An album labeled "Ten Years After" that doesn't have Alvin Lee, the heart of TYA, is false advertising. I'm a big "Alvin Lee" fan. I ripped the two Alvin Lee classics they stuck at the end, and burned them onto the end of a "REAL" TYA CD, and then sold this CD to a used CD store. If you like TYA, or just Alvin Lee solo, buy any other TYA CD than this one. "A Space in Time," was of course their best, and my most recommended. But ANYTHING with Alvin Lee is better.
Ten Years After ...Reborn!!!
Where did this guy Joe Gooch come from. Wow this "Now" CD blew my mind. . . he's a monster guitarist. . . and a more than worthy replacement for Alvin Lee. This is the best all around Ten Years After CD since "Recorded Live". It's full of energy & excitement that's been missing so long from Ten Years After albums. There isn't a bad tune on the whole CD. . . the band never sounded so loud and proud. This should be an essential purchase for anybody who's into smokin' classic rock of the blues based variety. A new classic is born!!!!.
No, No, No
Imagine a Wings CD without McCartney, or a Jethro Tull CD without Ian Anderson, or even a Greenday CD without Billy Joe Armstrong. Bands do change, but sometimes a band is molded by a central figure who defines the sound for that band once and forever.
TYA was just such a band. Without Alvin Lee, the band is not TYA. When a band has made such an impact as the original TYA, rarely will a personnel change in the key players result in a better band.
Some may think this album is good. I don't even think it's adequate for what it professes to be. I think perhaps this band should call itself Ten Minutes And We'll Be Gone.
King of the (Rock)Blues
I was very impressed of the phenomenal stageshows by us in europe, they are like in a new T. The new line up are the best formation and perhaps one of the best classic rockband in the world. Y. A. song "King of the (Rock)Blues".
And the NOW album is exciting and shows how good T. Y. A. (a super live band) can be in the studio.
T. Y. A. starts now to playing again in the U. S. A. , I give you the promise - you will enjoy it - more than ever before! .
