Five Star Worthy I'd rank this one with Who's Next, Aerosmith's Toys, and Floyd's Dark Side. Without exception, this is as good as anything ever released by anyone. It's that good.
MODERN DAY COWBOY
telsa never went for fads, just bread and butter rock and roll. while everyone else was puting out speed metal and glam rock in the 80's(which i like both),tesla chose to put out straight old rock. they do such a wonderful job of it. i guarantee if you listen to this, you'll want more tesla.
A Mandatory Album
Def Lep was promoting the Hysteria album, as well as their back catalog. My buddies and I saw Tesla's first Detroit appearance backing-up Def Leppard at Joe Louis Arena in 1987. The stage was round, and it rotated at center ice. Tesla only had Mechanical Resonance to draw from, but they came out blistering with "Cumin' Atcha Live". We were absolutely blown-away with their stage presence and hard-rocking command of a live show. While Def Leppard was stellar, as well, Tesla was unforgetable. And they still are, today.
Get Mechanical Resonance. It will be in your Top 10 favorite hard rock CDs, for sure.
"Modern Day Cowboy" a Late-Eighties Classic
Tesla released several albums after Resonance and even reached the Top Ten in 1991 with "Signs" (a cover of the Five Man Electrical Band hit from 1971); the group never quite matched the success of its debut record, however. The amazing "Modern Day Cowboy," from the Mechanical Resonance LP, backdropped life during the early part of 1987, when I was attending night classes and spending weekend evenings on the cruising strip in Longmont, Colorado. If nothing else, Tesla introduced rock fans to Nikola Tesla, best known for his development of systems that produce and use alternating current. Tesla is also credited with inventing the radio, based on patents in his name that predate those of Guglielmo Marconi.
