TESLA SOUNDING GOOD I THINK IT'S A LITTLE HEAVIER THAN REEL 1. THIS IS A VERY GOOD CD. THE SOUND IS GREAT AS THERE ARE VERY FEW OVERDUBS SO IT HAS THAT LIVE FEEL. I WISH THEY WOULD'VE HAD MORE LEAD GUITAR BATTLES SO WE COULD HEAR MORE OF WHAT DAVE RUDE SOUNDS LIKE. HE PLAYS A LITTLE LEAD HERE AND THERE BUT THE MAJORITY OF IT IS PLAYED BY FRANK HANNON. CAN'T ARGUE WITH FRANK'S PLAYING THOUGH AS HE IS AWESOME LIKE ALWAYS. THE WHOLE BAND SOUNDS GOOD AND LIKE THEY ARE HAVING FUN. OVERALL A GOOD CD AND FUN TO LISTEN TO.
great cd
. this cd was well worth the wait, the only drawback is in essence that you have to throw away the case to put it in the case with the first cd, or have 2 cases.
Covers and more covers
Tesla wins the battle, however, with two discs of amazing versions of their favorite songs. This CD came out at a time when it seemed like everyone in the business was putting out a covers CD. They stay pretty true to the originals and, heck, it's Tesla so you know it's great.
Thank you Tesla for making this great CD!!
But if you are, listening becomes that much more enjoyable. You do not have to be a Tesla fan to enjoy this album. Some of these songs off of Reel to Reel 2 (as well as RTR 1) could easily be voted as the best cover songs, ever! Tesla has done a fantastic tribute to the songs they have covered; keeping true to the original theme of the music adding current tones, precision Tesla styled musicianship and balls out rock attitude!
Per usual, the drumming, the lead & rhythm guitars as well as the lead vocals not only sound great tone wise, but they are executed by the masters of their craft.
One thing to point out that is NOT new to Tesla recordings but stands out here are the backing vocals. Very good harmonies that keep true to the original songs, but with a more modern performance. Very impressive guys!
On Reel to Reel 2, my attention wanders on Do You Feel Like We Do due to the overly lengthy mid section of that comes in over 11 minutes. Wow! The high points for me on the CD are the tracks All The Young Dudes, Saturday Night Special, and the energy shown on I Want to Take You higher.
As is the case with the rest of Tesla's music; this Reel to Reel set 1 & 2 shows the band is a tight unit made up of 5 very talented musicians that work together great!
Thank you Tesla for making this great CD set!
.
best of the rest
my CD don't bring the Frampton's cover, only on credits but disappearing on the listening. This volume 2 have the same quality and good taste on the covers selection. why?.
