haunting melodies
Many of the instruments heard are keyboard type together with Saleas on the clarinet. On this CD, Vassilis Saleas has taken 12 of some of Mikis Theodorakis most beautiful folk songs and arranged them for instrumental playing. The pieces are very haunting and helping me to feel as if I'm somewhere in a far off land. Saleas is very good with his art. He plays expressively and his phrasing is also wonderful. The clarinet has most of the melody line throughout the recording with the keyboard instruments serving as terrific accompaniment. It is also worth noting that Saleas playing does give the music a Greek sounding flavor. Overall, Litany was well worth the buy. I am certain that I will be listening to this CD for a long time. If you should decide to purchase Litany and like it as I have, Amazon sells Saleas Plays Vangelis and greekmusic. com has some of his other recordings not found on amazon. com.


I fell in love with Vassilis Saleas
No matter what Saleas plays, he plays it excellent. I fell in love with Saleas the first time I heard "L'enfant" playing in a bookstore. If you are in need of peace of mind and soul, listen to whatever he plays.


Best instrumental music I have ever...
If you want to know what RELAXation means then travel to Santorini, sit down in front of the Aegean sea and listen to Litany. I purchased this CD during vacations in Santorini the last year. . . Best instrumental music.


I Play It Again and Again
I would have been cheated in this life had I missed the experience of this music. To listen is to forever feel the world more intensely. Mikis Athanatous!.
