A nice collection for TMBG fans!
Not only does it compile their self-titled debut album and later album Lincoln, but it also comes with several dozen bonus tracks and EP B-sides. Then: The Earlier Years is a nice collection for either casual or die-hard fans. There are a few remixes and demo versions of their songs that are rather cool, and some other tracks that are sure to become new favorites (such as "Become A Robot", a personal favorite of mine). I bought this to replace a copy I'd purchased in high school and have since lost due to unforeseen circumstances, and I haven't regretted it once.

The inner booklet also has some background info on the Johns, how they met and formed the group, and information on many of the songs. A very informative read! There are also lyrics, tons of pictures, as well as pictures of the original release singles art.

A real find
I didn`t even know that the double CD 'the earlier years existed' until I found it at Amazon. I am a big 'They Might be Giants' fan , ever since I found a cassette of 'Flood' in a discount bin many years ago .

I was delighted to receive it . It is in perfect shape and is the crown jewell of my collection. .

They Might Be Genius
Immediately you will recognize the voices of the two Johns trading songs that defy virtually all conventions of songwriting. This is a great way to explore the pre-Flood album magic of TMBG. While the earlier material doesn't contain the polish of Flood or Apollo 18, nor the full band of their more recent albums, it is an incredible collection of pop/avant garde/art rock that belongs in everyone's collection, unless you're a "color inside the lines" type of person in your musical tastes.

Why buy their first two cd's at twice the price?
It has great liner notes, and some extra gravy thrown in. This is the first two CD's of They Might be Giants released as a double cd. Well worth the money spent for so many great songs.

So many amazing songs...
This double-disk set is incredible. . It covers the first 2 TMBG albums, EVERY ep off the two albums, plus so much more. . . A total of 72 tracks, at least half of which are really really good tunes. . . Any fan of TMBG MUST own these discs!.
