Great sound but too short. Where's the rest of the show?
Its a welcome companion to 'Live and Dangerous' but I have one question: where's the rest of the show? This CD is very short on running time and is probably slightly less than half of the show. This CD has great sound quality and is an important document in the career of Thin Lizzy (the final US tour of the classic lineup). Lizzy headlined the Tower and should have played for nearly 90 minutes. So, if they weren't playing a shortened opening-act set, then why wasn't the remainder of their performance included? A missed opportunity but, other than that, its an excellent addition to your live Lizzy collection.

More Bisquits
I have been listening to this on Reel to Reel for years, since I recorded the original broadcast when it was made. Finally a release on Cd thru VH-1 of a radio broadcast from the King Bisquit Flower Hour in 1977. I converted to mp3 as soon as I had the capability, but this is a superior product. Some may not be happy because it was not their whole concert, but it was the entire broadcast. The playing and vocals are superb. I know it could have been better, but this is a 33 year old recording at this time and the sound is better than many broadcasts from this period. As with most concerts the soundman could have done a better job here and there, but this was done on the fly and IS BETTER than the broadcast was. This band is exceptional and even better live. They blew me away when I saw them with Robin Trower. If you like Lizzy or Lynott, I hate to say it, but this is a must have. If you are trying to see what Lizzy sounds like for the first time try Dedication, Thunder and Lightning, Jailbreak or Renegade. If you are a live fanatic try Live and Dangerous or Life Live, both are excellent retrospectives of the band at the time each was released. This disc is raw and live, since it is reported that there were no overdubs, which tarnished Alive and Dangerous somewhat. This disc is a crowd pleaser and would enhance any collection. Thanks VH-1 for putting this out.

to hear the complete concert. . don't waste your money on this shotty release. I love Thin Lizzy but this is a sham(e).

Not one of Phil's best nights...
Gorham and Robertson are spectacular as is Brian Downey. It's great that they released this. However, Phil Lynott's vocals sound strained and weak. Most of the time it sounds like he has trouble just keeping up. His vocal performance on Live and Dangerous is better than the night he had in Philly. It is worth buying anyway if not just for Soldier of Fortune.

2nd attempt at perfection
The reason I purchased this LP was for 3 songs. . simply put.

1. "Soldier Of Fortune" sounds great, and pure, for a live cut.
2. "Opium Trail" sounds good as well.
3. "Me and the Boys" sounds good but doesn't match the performance off the DVD "Live & Dangerous. " Phil Lynott was known for singing his lyrics a little more accelerated than other lead singers. I just thought that he added more lyrical animation during the "Live & Dangerous" DVD which makes this "Me and the Boys" cut less catchy.

This LP is a snapshot of the U. S. Tour. . . which us Americans can now own and claim. . . . . . but it doens't match the "Live & Dangerous" LP in terms of sound clarity. They could have turned Phil's voice up a notch and Brian's guitar up as well.

Some of the song performances sound similar to the Live & Dangerous LP like "Cowboy Song," "The Boys are back in Town," "Don't Believe a Word," and "Dancing in the Moonlight. "

Some of the songs that also appear on the Live & Dangerous LP sound different as well. . . . such as the Police sirens "Jailbreak" and "Baby Drives Me Crazy". . . . . Huey Lewis on Harmonica is missing. He did a guest appearance on the European Tour.

I love this Band and wished it would have gone on to greater success here in the States. If you are a Thin Lizzy fan for life. . . add this to your collection. I did. "Thin Lizzy: Live & Dangerous" is the greatest live album of all time bar none. . . . . . "Still Dangerous" is a gap filler.
