The Destroyers
It is a fantastic straight up rock n roll album. I don't drive, but if I did this would be on my stereo being played very loud. With Chuck Berry covers and more. If you like AC/DC or the Quo you will love this.

If You've Already Got Move It On Over, Get This
MCA decided not to sign him, but somehow maintained control of the rights. Better Than the Rest, which is repackaged here, was a demo Thorogood submitted to MCA Records, before he was signed to Rounder. And when Thorogood became the most popular artist, by far, in the history of Rounder, MCA tried to cash in by releasing the demo they had. Not too many people knew about the record, even those who knew about "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer," were unaware of this it seems, and I have no idea how I got my copy. But whatever, I'm glad I got it, coz it's great. The version of "You're Gonna Miss Me"--solo acoustic bottleneck--is the best version I've ever heard, anyone, anywhere. "Nadine" more than does justice to the Berry original, and both Huckle Up Baby and Howlin for My Baby are also standout tracks. This is not a perfect record--My Way is a bit pedestrian, and My Weakness doesn't stand out much either, but 80% is better than 80% if you know what I mean, and the only Thorogood record I could recommend more is Move It on Over. But if you've got that one, and are looking for more, I'd start here, then move forward recording date wise anyway to the first Rounder release. . .

Real rock & roll
remembering them opening for the Stones in the early 80's. The Destroyers are one of the rockinest bands around. Playing to a 1/3 full collusium, they about tore the place down. Always have been one of my favorites. Good time music for your next roadhouse party. Lock the door and pour the beers, baby we are gonna break some furniture tonight!.

CD version of Better Than the Rest
The album itself is quite excellent and is a fine addition to your drinking collection. This is actually George's first ablum "Better Thank the Rest" which was one of his very first releases. Some of the included songs are on his "LIVE" CD and sound very different, but as you already know, it's all good. "Lonesome George" sounds young, but he is just as jamming as ever.
