all his favorite songs are on here. if you are looking for a great live thorogood album i recommend that you get this one. and being live it has that nasty sound that makes it even better.


My MP3 recorder didn't work, so this was the next best thing
The show was too loud for my rinky-dink MP3 recorder, so my hopes of an audio souvenir were dashed, or so I thought. I recently saw George Thorogood play at in Modesto, CA. A week later, I ran across this CD and gave it a listen. Although the CD was recorded in '99, it matched his 13 April, 2003 show in sound and song selection very closely. While the cynics might point out that he is simply a well rehearsed and choreographed over-the-hill rocker, I felt his show had lot of energy and really sounded great. Like at least one other reviewer on this site, I bought the CD to memorialize the show. Turned up really loud, it's like you're almost there again.


Another high-concept release from CMC International...
This album just ain't neccessary, though. I hate to knock George Thorogood - he's a true rocker and valuable ambassador to the blues, who still puts on a great show. He's already done two terrific live sets (1986's _Live_ and 1995's _Let's Work Together_), and has two decent compilations out. . . so why this? Well, to put it bluntly, the label he's with (CMC International) is a classic rock graveyard, whose modus operandi is to sign past-their-peak acts and milk them for endless "Greatest Hits Live"-type albums, occasionally letting them make a new record (with little or no support). I'm serious - these guys have put out 5(!) different live Styx albums (to one new studio album) in a four-year span. Such musical integrity is difficult to support.


A Rock And Roll Icon!
Is it really that good? Well yes and no. Ok, after reading the other reviews, I knew I was in the minority when I decided to give this a five star rating. It's true that there are a lot of old tunes here including the classic rock staples, "Bad To The Bone" and "I Drink Alone". However, what is captured here is really the essence of a George Thorogood concert and that is what makes this worth owning. I recently saw GT and the Destroyer's live in concert where they performed many of these songs. The concert lasted over 2 hours with no breaks or interruptions whatsoever. Just GT and the band pumping out one great tune after another. After seeing the performance, I purchased this disc. Not because I wanted to listen to another version of "Bad To The Bone" but because it memorializes a show that, in my mind anyway, cannot be duplicated. Those that have seen him live will appreciate the CD more than those fans that just like good rock and roll music. GT is an icon, a dying breed of an energetic good time rock and roll performer, much in the nature of a Mick Jagger. To me therefore, this CD is much more than a rehash of old tunes. It is a true 5 star live performance by a legend.


Thoro-ley re-hash
The first time I ever heard him I was hooked,way back in 79. I am one of the biggest fans of George Thorogood there is. So I guess all us hard core fans are a bit more critical. I am too dissapointed with this CD. It could have been made with a lot better song selection in mind. Too many songs repeated from other Live releases. But thats the same with George's concerts also. His set list has varied very little over the past decade. One good thing about this release though, definitley pick up the video of this CD. It fully captures a Thorogood concert experience, and makes the repetiveness of the selections bearable. Yes, Im a fan George, but time to bury "Who Do You Love", "Nighttime", "I Drink Alone", "GearJammer (Ugh)", etc. Its not really the guitar playing, or singing, (which George himself admits is not the tops), but the ATTITUDE he brings. We do love the musicianhip, but really appreciate Georges respect for "true" rock n'roll!.
