Great debut
it is interesting to watch this band search for an identity and style throughout the album. this is an entertaining cd and can be listened to over and over.

a young band that gives a good effort musically
After the release of this cd it's apparent that they have some growing to do. This is still TFK's first cd although it is remastered. The album features many great songs. (When in doubt would be my favorite. ) This album is good musically but lyrics are what they need to work on. They have good base guitar, but their lead singer is a little iffy. The cd features cheezey lyrics but all in all still good if you dont listen to the words. .

different direction
But even still i still found myself going right along with just about every song on Set It Off. than they had going on Phenomenon. I never listened to this when it was first released. So i'm going off of this release. I like how they have more of the rap/rock vibe going on in this cd than Phenomenon(which i still enjoy). I'm feeling this one a little more on that end and overall for the songs that were added to Set It Off.

I find it to be a very good purchase for those who dont have it or are on the fence about whether to check it out or not. Give it a shot and see how you feel about it. A few of my favorite songs on this one are:

"Everyone Like Me"
"Puppet"
"Supafly"
"Rhime Animal"
"Upcomesdown"
"Set It Off"
"Lift It"

I especially enjoy how they started it off with a new song "Everyone Like Me" and then did the intro to the cd after that. Most of the time i see it done opposite with a short intro and then the song. I know its really pointing out things that don't matter. I just thought it was cool to do on this one. It totally makes me want to check out their other cd as well and see how they progressed from this one to the next.

Solid cd overall though. .

gonna have to disagree here...
It's very mediocre. This album should get a 5/10. Despite being diverse, it really doesn't pull off any one style well. The rap lyrics are pretty bad. I really liked their latest record, so I decided to check this one out. You can tell that they were young when they cut this record and their songwrting skills were not truly honed yet. The early EP tracks at th end of the disc are horrible. As a whole, you may find something to like on here, but I recommend their other cds over this.

A remixed, remastered, repackaged version of their first album
They were nominated for a Dove Award for "Best Recorded Album of the Year", received a Vibe award for "Hard Music Album of the Year", and had tons of radio airplay. A year ago, Thousand Foot Krutch released Phenomenon, and the world found them. The disc sold over 100,000 copies and was supported by extensive touring.

What everyone didn't know, however, was that this was their second CD. Now they have re-released their first CD, Set It Off, adding six new tracks. Recorded five years ago and independently released, the songs really don't sound dated at all. If you're a fan of the "rapcore" style made popular by groups like POD and Pillar, you'll find a lot to like here.

"Everyone Like Me" starts the disc off and it's a brand new song. This one really does sound like it could have come from Phenomenon. I loved this one and it started the CD off perfectly.

"Unbelievable" is another great song. The chorus is really catchy and like every other song on this collection, it rocks! You've probably heard this one before on the radio.

The last five songs on the disc come from their 1998 indie release EP "That's What People Do". All of them are good, but it's easy to see the band was really just hitting their stride about this time.

At 18 songs you really can't go wrong with this disc. I've never heard the original CD so I can't speak for the improvement in quality thanks to the remastering, but this one sounds as good as Phenomenon. They definitely rap a lot more here than they did on their sophomore release, but that's not bad. While I like the direction they went in after this one, you'll need to add this one to your collection. If you're looking for another great Christian rock CD, grab Set It Off!
