35th Is Purty Good
I see reviews it is "not" the real Three Dog Night but get over it! how many bands stay original, some bandmates get booted, some die, that's life, anyway, I recommend this one because it is pretty good. I had my reservations about this one until I saw them "Live" a few weeks ago and this is almost a soundtrack to their show. Standout tracks are Liar, Out In The Country, Sault Ste Marie & One. Also includes some "Live" versions at end of the CD. So really, if you liked the band from the beginning, try the newer version, they sound pretty good. If you want the original members, buy a best of because these tracks are newly recorded in 2004 and sound great.

Sorry guys...
This CD captures the dull live show of the current band perfectly. I'm a huge Three Dog Night fan, and I've seen the Two Dog version - like on this CD - a couple of times. It's just boring. You'd think that an orchestra would add to the music, but on a song like "Out in the Country," the arrangement ruins the tasteful organ parts we all know so well in the original. "Try a Little Tenderness" stops being a great powerhouse tune, and becomes a speedy and silly mess. The drummer doesn't have a clue on performing these tunes. The feel is all wrong, but he obviously is a good technical player. Mike Allsup is an amazing guitarist! Always was, and always will be. His parts are timeless, and the BEST thing on this CD! Jimmy Greenspoon, who always got more effects and sounds out of a Hammond B3 than anyone, just seems to be a sideman on this CD.

For what it's worth, I own the whole reissued Three Dog Night CD catalog and love them all, but I'll never bother to listen to this one again. And this is from a lifetime fan. Sorry guys.

Awesome!
I had never been a huge fan but knew some of their music. I purchased this CD after seeing Three Dog Night live in concert. The concert blew me away and I knew I had to hear more. This CD is now one of my top 3 all time favorites! The music is great, their voices sound better today than they did 35 years ago. It's a "must have" CD for everyone - even if you only remember Joy to the World - the frog song! I'm now a die hard fan and never leave home with my Three Dog Night CD.

Good new recordings from Three Dog Night
Buyers should do a little more research in these types of situations. First of all, if someone is going to buy an album of new recordings from a band thats been around for 40 years there is a very good chance some of the original members wont be on it. The current version of Three Dog Night has been together for quite a while now. I was quite impressed with the new studio versions of the classic hits. The symphony sounds great on BLACK & WHITE and OUT IN THE COUNTRY particularly. LIAR & MAMA TOLD ME NOT COME rock harder than expected. Speaking of unexpected, the new song OVERGROUND is terrific, if it had made it onto radio I think alot of people would've been impressed. I would have liked a new studio version of ELI'S COMING instead of a live version but overall i'm more than happy with this cd. Of course I would love to see Chuck (and floyd) back in the band but i'm glad Cory & Danny are keeping the Three Dog Night name alive. . . . . . and very well I might add.
