good purchasei owned it on record years ago and was glad to find it on cd. I loved the cd .
Not as good as I remember it being
Not very impressive. Seven Separate Fools is one of their weaker albums. On the other hand "Around the World" is much more reflective of TDN's appeal. One Man Band is a great song but the album also loses its way and doesn't quite live up to TDN's standards. Overall I enjoyed it but was left unfulfilled.
Live concert excitement from the guys who wrote the book
This album is a great historic record of any of those Three Dog Night concerts and although it lacks some of the original excitement of "Live at the Forum" it is none the less a true snapshot of their amazing and collective talents. Finally, Around the World is available on CD! I was fortunate enough to see Three Dog Night live in 3 phases of their careers and with all of the original players. The Dogs roll through hit after hit on this live collection featuring the formidable vocal of the original 3 singers and an amazing rhythm section anchored by bassist Joe Schermie one of the finest rock drummers of his time, Floyd Sneed. The recording isn't great but it isn't bad either and it is if nothing else "of its time" I think that Edsel has done a nice job of this release and although the years may have altered my memory, it seems to be true to the original LP release that I played to death through the 70's. This is a great album and if you don't expect the highest of fidelity, you're going to love every minute of it. Highly recommended!.
Completely Satisfied
I had been searching for the live Around The World recording on CD for some time. The sound quality is what you would expect for a recording from the 70's. It contains my favorite version of Never Been To Spain. I recommend this set for anyone who likes Three Dog Night.
1 out of 2 ain't acceptable.
This package of "Seven Separate Fools" & the previously unreleased (legitimately, that is) on CD "Around The World. . " is spoiled by poor audio mastering on the "Seven Separate Fools" disc - in particular, "Black And White" starts out with obvious tape warble, while both "Chained" & "Midnight Runaway" are faded out early. The original MCA cd release is far better. In regard to the second disc (and yes, this is a 2-disc set - there's no way both albums would fit on a single disc, considering that the live album was a 2-LP set back in 1973), it is a fair transfer of the original audio content, but nothing to get excited about.
