Serious, Powerful, Intense and Insightful
They released an EP then this full-length "Undertow". Tool formed in Los Angeles in the early '90's and in a very short amount of time got a record deal with Zoo Entertainment. They achieved great success as soon as their single "Sober" hit the air waves and nu-metal/progressive rock fans ate Tool up QUICKLY.

Singer Maynard James Keenan writes serious, powerful, intense, insightful lyrics and that, put with Danny Carey's bruising drumming riffs and Adam Jones's grinding ultra-loud bass riffs, sets "Undertow" as one of the best albums of the decade. The songs are long at times and in a way go off into their own world, but that's one side people love about Tool. They set the standard high and are known for doing things their own way and in their own time. They have much voice in the production, so it's done on Tool's time and sense.

Great Album
The first few songs are the best. A very powerful album for its time, Tool broke new ground with this album. The album seems to taper off towards the end and gets a bit repetitive. Henry Rollins adds a few great words in the song "Bottom". If you like Sober, then you will definitely like this album. It rocks! If you don't like Tool's "Artsy" side, then get this album or Opiate. They are both more traditional sounding rock. . . but with an edge. A razor-sharp knife edge.

Undertow is Awsome, but get the real one.
Period. Undertow is one of the Greatest albums ever. This "clean" album was released for Walmart, who refused to sell the CD with the original art work. I assume that tool put the barcode to show that walmart doesnt care about music or art at all. Just money.
Get the real one. Dont stand for the butchery of art.

TAKE ME OUT OF THIS UNDERTOW
So you wanna get the edited version of Undertow. Ok ok.
The music is not edited, the artwork is though.
Instead of the ribcage and the nude artwork in the book
what you get is the barcode and in certain versions a message from tool.
So just get the original. The cd is great and is the best tool cd.

Tool rules
This album is cool. Tool is one of my favorite bands in the world. I don't think the art is that good, so buying the so called edited version is good cuz my mom would let me buy it. The only thing that is edited is the art, and they let you go and get the booklet anyways, so it's cool. The whole album rules, there is a lot of metal on this album. What the heck is up with that 69 song crap though, a bunch of them are like 1 second. Just make it ten tracks. My favorite songs are prision sex, sober, and undertow. Get all the tool albums, they rule. L8r fools and bling bling.
