Nice overview of Toto in 2 disks


What I like about this compilation:

-Even though the songs are not in cronological order they are arranged to make the album flow. The reason I bought this album is I wanted remastered versions of some of my favorite Toto songs so I wouldn't feel like I had to buy expensive import remastered versions of all of Toto's albums. Sometimes you lose that flow with a cronological compilation.

-It truly takes some of the best tracks from Toto's albums. It is nice that they were able to take tracks from the debut in 1978 all the way up to 1999.

-Features edited versions of songs from the Album Tambu. I love the songs on that album BUT they seem to go on way too long. Having them here in an edited form is nice.

-Nice remastering. The songs sound much better than the old 80s CDs.

-Features Toto's BEST instramental song featured in it's full length "Dave's Gone Skiing".

What I didn't care for as much about this compilation:

-A minor complaint is the singles Rosanna, Africa, Pamela, and Hold the Line are all the edited single version. On Rosanna it takes out that great drum intro. Though I liked the edits on the Tambu tracks it is to bad they couldn't have the full versions of these classic songs. This could be good news for "completists" who, with this compilation, will now have the single versions of these song that aren't avaiable anywhere else. Also based on the fact that they maxed out each CD the edits were used to fit as many songs they could on this compilation. NOTE: The US version of this album is only one disk BUT at least it left in the full version of these songs.

-Not for the casual fan. A casual fan should stick with the single disk US version.

This is an enjoyable way for those Toto fans who don't "need" to buy all of Toto's albums. This will serve as a compliment to the few Toto albums that I still have and enjoy. Yes there are edits on here but if you are like me you probably already have another Toto compilation with the hits in their full versions. In these days with digital media players and computer jukeboxes you can make your own version of this compilation edit free.
