Solid throughout Though it doesn't have the extremely catchy sounds like Fight the Good Fight and Magic Power (from ALLIED FORCES), it nonetheless delivers. 1984's THUNDER SEVEN by Triumph is a rock-solid release that is consistently good from beginning to end. This album sounds awesome, technically speaking. The sound is so well-balanced, and it shows flawless production throughout. Every song is excellent, and if I had to pick a favorite, it would be TIME GOES BY, as well as KILLING TIME. COOL DOWN is good, too. It's a song that is a combination of Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Bon Jovi and Fleetwood Mac. The album starts off the right way, with SPELLBOUND, which is a good rocker. This album is tied with ALLIED FORCES as my favorite Triumph album. 10/10.
Triumph Thunder Seven
We all know that. Its a classic Triumph album. I just bought it becuase I never bought it on CD only on cassette when I was about 12 years old.
I never knew it was "thunder seven" because it was Triupmp's 7th album.
Classic
Classic REmastered Vintage, Triumph, the best!A very good experience,if you like Triumph you will love this!w\m/.
Triumph's last flawless masterpiece still a great album today
The album was over a year and a half in the making because they toured for Never Surrender (which was documented on the Live at the US Festival CD and DVD released in 2003) then got into a dispute with their label at the time RCA whom were cheating the band from royalties and wanted the band to do things when they want and how they wanted. In late 1984, Canada's other great power trio Triumph released their first album since the Gold almost Platinum selling Never Surrender entitled Thunder Seven. As all hope looked bad for Triumph, Eagles manager (and then MCA Records president) Irving Azoff signed Triumph to MCA Records (owned by Universal). Then, Irving paid RCA for Triumph's master tapes and bought the band out of their contract to eventually switch the rights of the music to the band after the band would record five albums and license the albums for ten years).
After the problems were sorted out, guitarist/singer Rik Emmett, drummer/singer Gil Moore and bass player Mike Levine got together with legendary producer Eddie Kramer (fame for his work with KISS, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix) and went to Triumph's studio in Toronto called Metalworks to record Thunder Seven.
When released, Thunder Seven was another hit for the band.
The album kicked off with the rock radio gem "Spellbound" which featured Gil on vocals and is a killer rocker. "Follow Your Heart" was the album's biggest hit.
Other highlights are "Stranger in a Strange Land", "Killing Time" and the Zeppelin sounding "Cool Down" among others.
Also are two great instrumentals from Rik with the classical guitar piece "Midsummer's Daydream" and the closing "Little Boy Blues".
Thunder Seven is still the best of the band's MCA albums.
The album was then re-released in 1995 on the band's own label TRC Records with better sound courtesy of Bob Ludwig who did a killer job with the mastering (he did the mastering on the original album) and then the 2004 re-master is just as good as the original CD.
This album is highly recommended! .
Another good release!
In their time they put out some quality releases. Triumph were a very good Canadian band. The first 3 albums are fantastic straight ahead Rock and roll songs. After that, they kind of lost a little something. Thunder Seven is probably their best most cohesive effort from start to finish after Allied Forces. Most of the Triumphs cd's after Allied Forces lack really catchy tunes that pull you in. Thunder Seven has that!!
So if you're looking for a good rock band doing what they do best, check out the first 3 releases, Allied Forces and Thunder Seven. These are by far their best releases.
