Twisted Sister - 'Live At Hammersmith' (CMC International)
I don't care what others have to say about 'Live At Hammersmith',I think it's great. Even though I've had two cassette bootlegs of the band way back when,I was still more than happy to land down a copy of this live release. BUT,let me make it very clear that this 2-CD is for dedicated Sister fans only. You need not be a diehard,but AT LEAST realize this IS a home-like recording that most major record companies wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole. Good work,CMC!As the label has put out PLENTY of desirable CD titles. Runs about 87 minutes,total as Dee Snider and crew rip through fourteen TS classics,like "Stay Hungry","Destoyer","You Can't Stop Rock&Roll","Shoot 'Em Down"(my personal TS fave),the thirteen-minute "I Wanna Rock" among others. Tagged on are two ultra-rarities. A couple of covers the band had played at a 1979 Detroit club gig,"Jail House Rock" and the Yardbird's "Train Kept A Rollin'". A nice find. Cool cover.

Every song is cool, especially 'I wanna rock', 'were not gonna take it' and 'You cant stop rock and roll'

The musicianship is great, but it is the sheer energy of frontman and shock rock god Dee Snider that really makes this album stand out. This is a truly great live album.

This album has shows what a great band Twisted Sister were (there a lot of rumours about a reunion), particularly live. Why is it that today's shock rock bands like Maralyn Manson don't seem to be able to shock people without acting depraved?. Twisted sister always managed it, just watch the video to 'were not gonna take it', nothing twisted, just a great shock rock video.

". . . and when you tell me you don't like the way I play, there's only one thing I can say to you, I WANNA ROCK!".

Grab a copy of the UK 12" singles of I am I'm Me and The Kids are Back if you can which have three live songs each and really shows the true power of the SMF's live. The sound on this CD is crap, it sounds like you are outside the concert hall listing to this.


Live At Hammersmith is Twisted Sister at their Heaviest
After one listen to this album, however, they'd quickly change their opinions. Sadly, when many people today think of Twisted Sister, they don't think of one of the greatest Heavy Metal bands to ever get the blood flowing and the fists pumping.

Twisted Sister's "Live At Hammersmith" was recorded in 1984 at the Hammersmith Odeon in England. It was at the height of their popularity, following the release of 1984's "Stay Hungry," which provided the band with three (count 'em, three) MTV videos and hit singles.

This album stands out for a number of reasons. It's incredibly heavy. Jay Jay French and Eddie Ojeda's guitar work will blow you away, while Mark Mendoza's bass and A. J. Pero's drums will rock you to your soul. And Dee Snider's vocals will tear your speakers in two.

Aside from great musicianship on great songs like "Burn in Hell," "S. M. F. ," "Destroyer," "What You Don't Know (Sure Can Hurt You)," and "Under the Blade", the interaction between the band and the fans is unbelievable. One thing that seperates this live album from a slew of others is the fact that Dee will just sit and talk with the fans, get them riled up, etc.

Another great thing is that it's two discs long. That's double the metal mayhem for any diehard Metalhead or rock lover. What more could you ask for?

Covering tunes from Twisted Sister's first three albums (including the song that I consider to be their best, "You Can't Stop Rock and Roll") and two cover songs recorded live in Detroit in '79, "Live At Hammersmith" will have you headbanging away before you even realize it.
