Good album, but not a good edition
It's probably one of their best- on par with their previous IMO. I love this album a lot, one of their most solid efforts yet.

However, the same can't be said about this box set.

Never mind Cedars of Lebanon, what happened to all the trees wasted making this edition?

First off, the CD and DVD is included which is nice. And then the poster. It has an expanded version of the album cover which is really boring to look at. I could have gotten the same offering at a print shop in Southgate Mall. And then the flipside is an equally boring photo of the band standing around looking monotonous.

The DVD is a waste of time. What "film"? I probably won't watch it again. Just the songs on the album set to a man riding his motorbike and walking. It's painful to watch, and the "f--k the police" thing was unintentional comedy gold. We only briefly see U2 during Magnificent. And the video quality is garbage. Even my copy of The Chinese Connection looks better.

The harcover book is nothing special. Just a bunch of U2 photos and an interview with the band. nothing particularily interesting.

But lastly, THE BOX. I can't fit the box onto any shelf without taking up tonnes of space. They could have fit all things into the hardcover book like Judas Priest did with Nostradamus (trust me, the poster isn't that big). But no they didn't.

Also, I would like to go out on a limb and comment on how big U2's egos have gotten. They've gone from great band to Money-making machine. $95 for this edition? Thanks for robbing me of my money! I got the Limited Edition of HTDAAB for WAY less!! As well as their new tour the U2 360 tour. They went from just playing normal shows at amphitheatres and arenas to HUGE stadums. Yeah, a huge spaceship setting they can fit in a stadium. What is this, Galaxyland? I wanna see U2, not stare at their backs for 2 hours. Iron Maiden have better intentions when it comes to shows- stadium/arena/amphitheatre venue, yet a stage set at one end of the stadium/arena so that EVERYONE can see them. I think I'll wait for the Blu-ray of the U2 360 tour.

Overall, just get the regular edition. You're missing nothing with this terrible money-waster of an edition.

3 STARS for the BOX SET, 5+ STARS for the CD
I never would have thought I'd rate anything they have available anything less that 4 stars until I bought this boxed set. I should begin by stating I am a DIE HARD, normally incredibly biased U2 fanatic.

Since I usually have a 4-5 year wait for new U2 material, I immediatley opted for the boxed set of No Line on The Horizon (which by the way, at the time of its release was $67, not $98). I was thrilled to receive the CD enclosed in the pristine white box, opening it immediatley. After the usual joy of receiving the cd/new tracks, I moved on to explore the box. I must admit I was disappointed. Like I read in some of the other reviews, the book is a nice but short read, the folded poster is just okay and the DVD was a treat but there's NO WAY it can POSSIBLY be worth the price. NO way.

No Line on The Horizon is one of U2's greatest, without a doubt. It's absolutely amazing. I would just simply buy the CD alone which is the only thing I could not have done without in the set. We do have to respect the fact that U2 ALWAYS give us various price options. They know not everyone is willing to or is able to fork out $100 for a poster, CD and book. I got the lower price so I don't feel robbed. You really must BUY the CD. . . at $9. 99 for what it contains it's a steal! No Line On The Horizon .

Instant Classic
Once again, the Irish quartet reminds us why they have such staying power, and how the simplest melodies and riffs make for unforgettable anthems. Awesome new effort by U2. A little combination of the song writing style of "How to Dismantle. . . " and "All That You Left Behind", with the out-of-the-box production of "Achtung Baby. " Some personal highlights - "Magnificent"; Loved it instantly, continue to love it, always will. The quintessential U2 sound. "Breathe"; great powerful riffs from The Edge, nice piano sounds with the seemingly chaotic, yet structured vocals from Bono. "White as Snow"; took a few weeks to accept this one. Slow, very traditional, dark Celtic feel. Grew on me. "Unknown Caller"; reminiscent of classics, like "An Cat Dubh", lots of dynamics. Bottom Line: A. Can't wait to hear the new material live in September on tour. .

Magnificent!
I guess the price is just worth it too. This is a really "must have" for any U2 fan since it contains the full album plus the Linear Dvd that is just great as a complete story made up with each one of the songs.

U2 is combating piracy in the best way, to give us these great extras that as fans we do appreciate as well as we thank.

Get it right away if you haven't!!.

Album is great, box-set is over-priced...
People will not be reviewing this album as well as the prior two outings by U2. . rightly so. It is not the same album as ATYCLB or HTDAAB. The songs are not as big. This is a great album. They're not going to hit it out of the park with every album, but this album ran it's way to third base without any difficulty. There are great songs on this album, which may be slightly hidden from the naked eye (ear). The opening title track, Magnificent, Moment of Surrender, I Know I'll Go Crazy and Breathe are all great songs and will be discovered properly on tour. These songs will step up in the same manner as Love & Peace Or Else from the Vertigo Tour.

The box set is a bit of a joke. Heavily over-priced, even at $60-$65. If you can pick the album up for less than $15, the DVD, book, poster and "box" do not ring in at $50. . . particularly if you compare them to other U2 publications. I was quite disappointed with the box set.

The album itself is a 4-star album. . . even if that hasn't yet been fully realized.
