Customer Reviews
If I never heard "Strangers..."
I'm not a great fan of "shred" guitar, especially with Carlos Santana tone (I like Carlos, and the tone suits him fine). If I never heard Strangers in the Night, I would have probabably enjoyed this CD more. Don't misunderstand me, Vinnie Moore is a fine guitarist, I'm just not a fan of all that tapping. Technically it is sound, but I hear no feeling in it. As I said, if I'd never heard "Strangers in the Night, I'd most likely be satisfied with this CD, but there is only one Michael Schenker, and he is definitely not on this CD! The least they could have done would be to omit "Rock Bottom", as I'm not sure even Michael himself could duplicate, replicate or imitate his almost possessed sounding lead in that song. Overall good CD, just not as good as with Michael. If You don't have "Strangers in the Night", buy it instead of this one.

Four-and-a-half stars. This one is really good...
Here the guitarist is Vinnie Moore and the band plays the classics along side some new tracks from the CD "You Are Here", which downplays, perhaps, the big choruses for an edgy blues/country and western direction that the band is moving towards more and more. It's a shame that when Schenker rejoined UFO for a short time around the Walk On Water tour UFO never released a professionally mixed live CD of this quality. The result is good, though. "Baby Blue" and other tracks are pretty awesome and do bring back memories of some of their earlier tracks stand well with such classics as "I'm a Loser".

I would like to speak to Vinnie Moore compared to Schenker, though, for the most part. In terms of ability, I would say the two are pretty close. No doubt, both are guitar heavy weights. Schenker's tone was derived from a Mahogany Gibson Flying V with Seymour Duncan Jeff Beck pickups. The tone is fairly open and raw, with good bass response and insane highs and harmonics. Vinnie sounds like he's using a simple Stratacaster with DiMarzio pickups of some kind. A less raw tone, very "middy" sounding. Perhaps they are Evolution or Tone Zone (think the modern sound of Steve Vai or Joe Satriani). His playing is fast and fluid, but not quite as good as Steve Vai. All and all I would give Schenker the edge when it comes to bending and use of vibrato, but Moore might have a bit more fluidity to his playing, however, that might just be the pickups. Overall, then, Schenker is not missed too much and the sound production, track selection, musicianship is all excellent. .

Please Don't Compare to 'Strangers'
Vinnie Moore more than handles the job on guitar (both the old and new songs). This double cd rocks in its own special way.

What a fun show. The audience seems to be having a great time as these classic rockers lay down some seriously great sounding tunes.

A definite must have for those who love UFO or classic rock in general.
