Customer Review unrest before the nineties This album (lovely title) is, of course, before the beautiful indie pop stylings of "Imperial" and "Perfect Teeth. For an amateurish garage band that didn't take anything too seriously, Unrest were not all that bad. " Way, way before. Some songs work on here. Most do not. The instrumentals are pretty okay; "Holiday in Berlin" and "Communist Tart" don't necessarily disappoint, but they're nothing special. "Chastity Ballad" and "So You Want to Be a Rock & Roll Star" are good examples of how bad Unrest could be -- "Chastity Ballad" is entirely sung in German/gibberish and is nearly unlistenable, and "So You Want to Be a Rock & Roll Star" is. . . well, super-duper average and really boring. But, man, there sure are some great songs on here -- "Laughter" especially. Very melodic and pretty, Mark Robinson's semi-emotional vocal delivery of the simple, plaintive lyrics concerning jealousy with an ex-girlfriend is nearly perfect. "Hope" is what you'd think it sound like -- hopeful (surprising, huh?) and triumphant. "Egg Cheer" is a fantastic, giddy ode to God knows what. Not much else is entirely vital; but for Unrest fans, it sure is worth a listen or two. Otherwise, newbies should stick to "Imperial" or "Perfect Teeth. ". .
