A Dirty Noisy Xmas
Great for the come down, this will make you grit your teeth till your gums bleed. Sounds just like they did live. Technically not perfect, but who needs good production with atmosphere like this? Christmas never felt this dirty, the ultimate in crusty noisecore.

Redressing the imbalance
But by the time I got back I found Dan Henk had done it for me. After TS Hunter's 'review' I felt obliged to redress the balance. The 'lost' opening on Test My Faith (due, apparently, to an ill-timed tape change) and the messy closing 'Mystery Guest' track are only reasons I haven't given this five stars. On all other levels, this album kicks much head: the bulldozing opener Sick, the double-speed treatment of No Soul, the hammer assault of 4 Sticks - all are priceless. And the absolute killer version of Straight is worth the purchase price alone. Buy now.

Dan Henk
NYC noise pioneers, this trio's signature sound is a heavy, bludgeoning groove punctuated by piercing noise. This is a band whose influence is far more prominent than the band itself. The lyrics are full of bitterness and disgust. Thick and pounding, the mostly slow to mid tempo music virtually pioneered the current "sludge" sound, yet remains far above the slew of present day Sabbath cover bands. This is a live album featuring most of their best songs. How could you go wrong with that? Listen to the version of sick on this album and discover the true power of an excellent song that was marred by weak production on their recent relapse debut. Essential.

This recording is satisfactory
Paul Minnesota, on December 20, 1996. First of all, this is NOT a Christmas CD in any way shape or form, except for the fact that it is a live show recorded at the Amrep Christmas Party at the Turf Club, in St. If you're a hard-core fan of the band and wouldn't mind another album by the band, that happens to be live, then go ahead and get it. Otherwise, it's not anything special that would stand out 10 years from now.
