Take a pick, pick a style ... if you dare!" Could "Persona non Grata" truly be considered a deviation for a band with such an undefinable style? Anyway, it's back to the unusual as usual. With this album, UDS pretty much picked up where they left off in "Life 'n Perspectives. In general, an excellent album. A stylistic surprise at every turn. The DJ's who replaced DNA did an excellent job (though it was great to see him back with the band in the next album. He's in this album's live CD). Rudeboy was truly born ready for metaphor warfare. His vocal playfulness was great! Any negatives? Well, a couple of the songs were relatively uninteresting. This album is unlike any of their other albums in that it isn't successful as an organic whole. Viewed as a whole, it seems as artless as its album cover. But then there's that one great song, and that other great song, and that other great song . . . . Most of the individual songs are really great. The parts may not all add up, but individually, you can't deny they result in a great album.
Get it before its gone
The CD booklet art is worth the cost alone. Planet Ultra is a wicked mix of styles and sounds. UDS can play any style and make it sound fresh. Also, the bonus live disc is a classic!
I just heard UDS broke up, so get your copy NOW.
kickin it groovy style
its worth the extra import price. if you are a fan of UDS already, this will not dissapoint! its a little more stripped down than the previous but still has that kickin groove.
