Early Urban shows roots Although the production is thin compared to today's standards, the CD is good. Once you get past the hair to the music you will enjoy this disc if you like Keith Urban. Some of the tunes such as "Only You", could easily be re-recorded and included on a current collection. Four of the cuts were hits in Australia. This would make a good addition for any Keith Urban fan, but be aware, his voice has improved and he has grown as an artist since this effort. .
early prediction of immense talent
I listened to it while reading the Jeff Apter book (ignoring the some inaccuracies) and it stays in my cd rack. I have followed closly all the current stuff and this early cd from OZ really shows his early voice and beginings of KU.
This will suprise you !
It's a wonderful CD, great guitar work. I bought for my daughter, she calls him monkey man. Not at all a request I'd expect from a 10 year old. There is significant contrast between song selections. This guy suprised me from the start, excellent vocal range, emotional performances and turned out to be quite a looker. I didn't know anything about him and was wanting the concert to be over before we even got in the door, but after he came out. . . we were one of the last ones to leave. It was a cool December night in 2007 but he had the driver stop and signed autographs in his P. J. 's from the bus window. He even thanked us for comming. What a man, what a show! Give him a listen, you won't be sorry.
Great Present
I bought this for a friend's birthday. I have been a Keith Urban fan for many years and own all of his CD's. She has been a fan for only a year and this and "The Ranch" are the only CD"s she did not own. Now she has a complete set of 6 and I have 2 complete sets of 6.
At age 24, it is clear KU was going to be a star.
Even at age 24, you can hear that "international star" quality in his voice. For all KU fans, this album is a must have. The production elements are less polished, but his abilities. . . both vocally and instrumentally. . . are clearly evident. It took awhile to receive the album since it is an "import". . . certainlly not received as quickly as most Amazon orders. . . but DEFINITELY worth the short wait. Several of the songs are real "keepers," and if he would update and reissue them, they would be more #1 hits to add to his growing list.
