Lies for the Liars is a fistful of love to the ears! You obviously have no idea who the Used are or what their music represents. Let me first say that all of the reviews giving this album a bad rap are simply ridiculous. Apparently, you somehow missed the subject matter of this album and only compared the music, not the lyrics with their past albums. This is the same Used that we have always listened to. It is a chaotic, in your face, passionate love song. Lies for the Liars is a very well done album! The music and lyrics work perfectly just as with past albums. Granted my personal favorites are still the "self titled" and "In Love & Death" albums, but Lies for the Liars shows promise. The album is full of angst, heart, frustration and love. To put it bluntly, get this album is you are a true Used fan. Don't read the negative reviews they have no idea what they are addressing. If you enjoyed past Used albums you will enjoy this. Ever band changes (grows) over the years musically as well as lyrically, so did the Used. This is NOT screamo. It's closer to Post Hardcore if you plan to classify it at all. Lies for the Liars is a fistful of love to the ears!

Love It!!
Incredible vocals and [. The Used's best album ever in my opinion. . . ] lyrics. My favorite songs would definately have to be "Hospital" and "Wake the Dead".
My return to the used very dissapointing...
At first glance there was nothing out of the ordinary from this scr/emo band I thought, but as time went on and it got more and more spins in my personal collection I had to sit down and digest a bit more. I first got the the Used self titled debut from a friend and instantly I was hooked.
There first album was incredibly raw. You can feel the honest angst in all the little details and the odd, slightly "off" tonal progressions that made this would-be bargain bin compilation classic. On top of all that honest emotion was some catchy riffs and enough punk to keep things interesting.
This album and its predecessor however, have lost that magic completely. In Love And Death was declared to be a masterpiece born out of real life anguish, and maybe so, but I think Bert was a little too caught up in his new found fame to write anything really meaningful on that album. Continuing that trend, this album should be avoided like that brown lump on the side walk. Its Berts attempt to sound like everyone else, and nothing like the teeth grinding brutally beautiful and simple honesty of The Used.
Strong Third Album from The Used
Something about the way the band meshes both light and heavy melodies together with thought-provoking lyrics intrigued me. I've been a fan of The Used since I stumbled across "A Box of Sharp Objects" from their debut album several years ago. And while this concotion worked for some of the tracks on the debut, it didn't work for all of them.
However, the band has made significant progress with their third studio album, "Lies for the Liars". The use of orchestra instruments and sound effects make more tracks more interesting, giving the disc a sound that is more refined than its predecessors.
For anyone who enjoys rock music of any kind, I suggest this album. I also suggest giving both previous albums ("The Used" [self titled] and "In Love and Death") a listen. The band has changed its image and its sound from album to album, but they're still both worth the listen.

Remember When...
Their first CD was so raw and had such a great balance of Bert's singing/screaming. Remember when The Used straight up rawked? Yeah, me too. I was always amazed how in the same line he could go from melodic singing to screaming and then back to the melodic singing in the same breath, while at the same time staying catchy. He doesn't seem to do that anymore. This CD feels like he is trying to rip-off MCR's sound, but failing. Maybe they will come back and rawk, but for now, I will stick to 30 Seconds To Mars and MCR for my fill of catchy, hard rock. .
