awesome I'm not a big Vai fan but this album impressed me. This is the best Steve Vai album I've ever owned. Very beutiful melodies surrounded by amazing dynamical rhythyms. He really impressed me with this album.
It's perfect if you want just a very small aspect of Steve Vai.
I actually put together my own copy of the album from downloading a few tracks off of iTunes, and adding the other tunes as well from their original albums, including the hidden track. However, my review has to be negative in that I think that there are so many other sides to Steve Vai that should be given a look.
When looking at this album, it does have enchanting guitar melodies, but some of his best track number sevens were done after this album was made ("Whispering a Prayer," "Brandos Costumes (Gentle Ways)," and "Lotus Feet"). I would recommend Alien Love Secrets to start out, but my personal favorite is Alive in an Ultra World, which I wrote an extremely long and detailed review on.
awesome!
This is an awesome cd! All of Steve Vai's 7th songs from each of his albums! A wonderful cd to have if you love guitar music!.
This it It!
Eliminate the weird Zappa silliness and the vocal sludge and the real Steve Vai comes shining through. The Steve Vai that I wish was evident on every record.
A unique guitar voice.
This and Alive in an Ultra World is ALL of the solo Vai you will ever need. I love Vai and his performance on the The Ultra Zone tour was the best show that I have ever seen -- and I've seen a LOT of them. Can the silliness and enjoy a spiritual experience.
Quality
This was when Vai played music like it was an art, without annoying alien gimics. This entire album is quality, beginning to end. This is the best Vai album in existence, get it, hear it, love it, keep it!.
