THE BEST VAN HALEN ALBUM (AKA THE BEST ALBUM OF ALL TIME) Iluv DLR but this album is brilliant , sure it went downhill from this point onwards , with there worst album ou812 . This is the most complete album im my opinion.
GOOD ENOUGH i dont know a better way to start an album HALLOOOOO BBABBYYYYYY! brilliant , Eddie is great on this , its very much eddie tryin to do PANAMA(but not as good) part 2 , even the break down is half decent for hagar.
WHY CANT THIS BE LOVE , a trully great song absolutely brilliant , u still hear it on the radio these days , great keyboards , this is sammy at his best , EVH solo rocks , what a sound , not overly complicated but great none the less.
GET UP , similer to eddies previous solo but goes through the wholo song , almost thrash metal , a great song to get u rockin.
DREAMS another brilliant song , this is almost the perfect song , keyboards r brilliant , this combine all VH great attributes.
SUMMER NIGHTS starts off with eddie a bit off riffing but classic it as , then the song starts rocking , a great summer party song , n a forgotten classic, MA shines on this one .
BEST OF BOTH WORLDS , actually pretty deep 4 a SH song , with great lyrics, EVHs riffing under the solo is simply fantastic .
LOVE WALKS IN , is a great soft song , its not a ballad even though its title would suggest otherwise , great simple intro , it cld be one of the best written VH songs ever , its also a reason why DLR/VH fans dislike it so much , trust me there was worse to come ie WHEN ITS LOVE, CANT STOP LOVIN YOU, NOT ENOUGH , all are sappy love song which dont compare to this.
5150 is a great song ruined by SAMMY HAGAR , the music is brilliant , SAMMY ruins this one big time. Dave wld of made this a hit .
INSIDE , is interesting , its not really a song as such , sammy doest really sing its more of talking with a chorus , but i do enjoy it , he wld ruin many other songs to come ie BLACK N BLUE(ONE OF THEIR WORST) SPANKED , DLR wld have made them great.
SO THERE YOU GO 5150 , ANY MUSIC FAN FULL STOP SHOULD HAVE THIS IN THERE COLLECTION.
VH wld never reach this peak again, it went downhill very quick , F. U. CK is a very good album but the rest of van hagar is avg at best , it never reached the greatness of DLR/VH , there wasnt a bad album or song in the first 6 albums.
People who shunned DLR wld miss out on some great albums EAT EM N SMILE BEING up there with the best of van halen , skyscraper great , ALAE n yr YFLM good , Dave hit form again with the DLR band with john 5 on it , brilliant cd .
Van Halen 5150
One of their best! Always have loved this CD since it first came out, a great addition to your collection!!.
5150 is Solid
Dave released his First and only assault at Van Halen "Eat Em' and Smile" which broke down the doors with the pure hard rock smash of "Yankee Rose". It Was 1985 and The Mighty Van Halen had recruited the already successful Sammy Hagar as their lead man.
Meanwhile, Sammy and The Gang were ready to hit dave back with their first of many assaults at him with the one and only grandiosity of "5150"
Yes, I've Heard "5150" and "Eat Em' and Smile" over and over and over again. . . but there was always something about "5150" that made me come back to it a lot more. . . i think it's just the songs and how fluidly they are produced and just how much it is suppose to be a stab at dave makes it sound even stronger.
Good Enough Rocks Forward and is an in your face all air assault on David Lee Roth.
Why Can't This Be Love is pure Van Hagar, But Still Is Catchy. . . and holds up today, without sounding dated. . .
Get Up is another in your face air assault on David Lee Roth. . . with it's hard pounding metallic shell all around and sounds like Hot For Teacher On Steroids.
Dreams is another Van Hagar sounding track, but very good song none the less. . .
Summer Nights is a great song
Best Of Both Worlds rocks and is another stab at David Lee Roth
Love Walks In is one of the best ballads i've ever heard, it's amazing without being 80's cheesy. . .
5150 just rocks
Inside is basically a collection of sounds and laughter basically the guys laughing it off and showing David Lee Roth that they can still have tons fun without him
Now, although Van Halen released 3 more albums with Sammy Hagar. . . they seem to be a lot more casual rock radio releases and don't pound as hard as this one does. . .
this is a great follow up to 1984 and basically what makes it so good is that their sound is a lot more mature and although they're still having fun, the songs sound a lot more like songs and not like one big fat joke (Eat Em' and Smile)
.
David Lee Who???
Sammy Hagar replacing David Lee Roth was perfect for us fans who loved the band, but never really cared for DLR. This album was the beginning of the best American rock band to ever walk the earth. Sammy Hagar opens this fantastic album with his now trademark "Helloooo Baby!" and from there you are welcomed back to the party with a more sophisticated Van Halen.
This album was really an extension of the 1984 masterpiece cleverly titled 1984. Keyboards were now the norm in Van Halen and they used them beautifully on this release. Songs like Why Can't This Be Love, Dreams, and Love Walks In show EVH not only as a guitar god, but something much more important, a great songwriter.
The rockers here are some of the band's best as Best Of Both Worlds, Summer Nights, and the album titled track 5150 are all AMAZING.
Dont let the DLR fans fool you, this and all the Van Hagar albums didnt go straight to #1 because they sucked.
happy 3ugged
Then, the glances; suggestive words; outright flirting, and acknowledging that. Maybe the 1st meeting was a throwaway ~ or perhaps indifference is a clean slate, the most honest human emotion. Aggressive eye contact; pitter frickin' patter. Electronic guitar, histrionic vocals, SWAT beats. Arena gloss with a dash of something ON between the players. Then, poof. Does this mean I'm satisfied? I wouldn't give anyone that satisfaction. Except, her. Loud, with cushions. And woozy. Accursed crush, telepathic smile. Godlike solos. Indifference under siege, disoriented.
