Van Halen - Van Halen In Concert Audio CD

A fair review of the Van Halen "Van Halen In Concert" Audio CD. Please note that the below review is the views of the authors, and authors only. You can get a complete list of all Van Halen reviews here, or go back to the Van Halen tabs.

Van Halen Band: Van Halen
Title: Van Halen In Concert
Rating:
Release Date: 2007-12-11
Media: Audio CD

Tracks:

1986 Meets 1991
"Best of Both Worlds" is about 11 minutes long just like on the DVD. Here is the track listing for this double CD set:

Disc 1
Poundcake (Right Here Right Now)
Love Walks In (Live Without A Net)
Man On A Mission (Right Hee Right Now)
Best Of Both Worlds (Live Without A Net)
In 'N' Out (Right Here Right Now)
I Can't Drive 55 (Live Without A Net)
Ain't Talkin Bout Love (Live Without A Net)

Disc 2
Spanked (Right Here Right Now)
There's Only One Way To Rock (Live Without A Net)
Finish What Ya Started (Right Here Right Now)
Why Can't This Be Love (Live Without A Net)
316 (Live Without A Net)
Panama (Live Without A Net)
Jump (Right Here Right Now)

"Love Walks In" has Sammy playing the guitar parts which are quite good. "One Way To Rock" is spectacular with Sammy & Eddie trading licks. I only wish "5150" was here because Eddie's solo on that live rendition is wonderful. But this is the track listing for those fans who might like this. I bought it for the Live Without A Net versions. Enjoy!.

Where's "Live" With David Lee Roth?
I will say the sound is very good so any fans of this era shouldn't be disappointed. Like another reviewer I bought this thinking maybe we'd hear something from the original Van Halen and not Van Haggar. But for those of us who became fans of the band at the beginning we're still waiting to get something from those days. I too hope maybe they'll release something from their reunion tour which I heard nothing but good things about. It would be even better in DVD form. Hopefully they'll stay together for awhile to put out something new and tour again since I unfortunately missed out on this tour.

Not David Lee Roth Era Van Halen!
I believe it is the same concert as the "live Without a Net" DVD from 1986, if not it is certainly from the same tour. Buyer beware!

Even though the cover depicts David Lee Roth-era Eddie Van Halen, this recording is a Sammy-era performance.

I was suspicious when there were no product details (I. E. track listing), but thought better of it & purchased the item.

The recording quality is good, no dropouts or anything like many unofficial recordings.

Unfortunately, we still have no decent record of the DLR-era VAn Halen unless one is released at the end of the current tour. I was disappointed to say the least that this wasn't from the 1977-1984 timeframe. Any suggestions of places to purchase recordings from this era would be much appreciated!

I gave a 3-star rating simply because no track listing was available to allow the consumer to decide if they wanted yet another Sammy-era recording. It was misleading.

The old addage is true, never judge a book by its cover, and never purchase a CD without the tracklisting!
