Gino's Crowning Achievement " He is a "musician's musician," the kind of talent that comes along once in a generation, capable of writing, arranging, and performing at the very highest level. I've been a Gino Vannelli fan for over 30 years, since the first time I heard "Gist of the Gemini. "Canto" is his true masterpiece, stunningly beautiful from the first note to the last, as breathtaking in its quasi-classical realm as "Yonder Tree" is in the world of jazz. Gino's voice, that astonishing gift, has remained untouched by the years, and is indeed at its very peak here, nowhere more so than on "Parole Per Mio Padre. " You don't have to speak or understand one word of Italian to be deeply moved by his performance, and indeed that's true of this entire recording. The emotion transcends the languages. The album's closer, "The Last Days of Summer," is a true "art song" and may just be the most insightful song ever written about growing older. It's a radiant finish to the summit of this remarkable artist's life, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Twenty stars!. Canto...takes you to another place His music is wonderful. I have been a Gino fan for 30 years. Canto is a combination of Italian, French and English lyrics with music that is more classical then jazz or rock. Canto is incredible and to sum it up. . . takes you to another place. My husband and I listen to it often and each time we are inspired. . Renewed My Love for Opera!! However, it is now one of my top 5 FAVORITES!! His voice is even better than before and he is still one of the most beautiful men I've ever laid my eyes on. As a Gino Vannelli fan of yesterday, I wasn't sure if I would appreciate this CD. I've since purchased several more of his compositions because of my renewed interest. I can't think of too many GV songs I don't like. The title track, "Canto" is beautiful, intense, and emotional. Its a shame that such a wonderful artist is so unappreciated in the United States. We could definately use more of his artistry in today's music world. Simply Awesome! Being a fan of classical italian music, when I heard him in concert I melted as he sang in italian. Gino Vanelli's Canto is absolutely terrific. Being of italian heritage, I could hear that his pronunciation of the italian language was perfect, his voice is like an angel and that I could easily listen to this CD over and over again. I highly recommend this CD. Incredible It is simply incredible. I cannot believe this CD has not become a mega hit. Gino's voice is richer than ever and the songs are exquisite.
