Gino Vannelli's Canto
His music is wonderful. I have been a Gino fan for 30 years. Canto is a combination of Italian, French and English lyrics with music that is more classical then jazz or rock. Canto is incredible and to sum it up. . . takes you to another place. My husband and I listen to it often and each time we are inspired.

Gino Vannelli, Those Were The Days
I have found myself listening to this CD, many times. I highly recommend that anyone, who is a fan of Gino Vannelli, take a listen to his newest CD, Those Were The Days, as his writing and singing is excellent. As a musician myself, I'm very impressed with the first 7 new songs, which are more acoustic backed than his 80's synth sound.
I can't wait until his next CD comes out.
Give a listen, this CD will grow on you.

Worth it for the strong songs
A great analogy re the Gorge he lives by and relationship divisions. This album is worth it for "The Great Divide". I have cranked this song from California to 84 east of Hood River. Venus is also well worth having.

When will you tour more, Gino, and update your website? How about some Portland shows?

Paul.

Those Were The Days.... And Sort Of Still Are
You'll like the first half because the new songs sound fresh. If you've been a Gino fan since the middle 70's, you'll like this album. I was suprised at how much I liked the new songs. I've had a few Gino CD's from the 90's and they are very inconsistent. Yonder Tree has some great tunes but also some clunkers. The new tunes on here are all above average. Don't understand the reasoning behind rehashing the old songs. Like another reviewer stated, if the old tunes were re-done and updated that'd work, but, we already have these songs. Anyway, the new songs are all melodic stuff sounding like an updated Pauper in Paradise, Brother to Brother period. Hey Gino, how about a new full blown live DVD?.

Gino Returns---As good as ever
Gino does not disappoint. After purchasing and enjoying Gino's Ultimate Collection I decided to purchase this CD out of curiosity as it contains new material along with several greatest hits. He simply picked up where he left off. After so many years of not composing, his new music is delightful. His lyrics remain poetic, insightful, and relevant. His voice---absolutely incredible. I truly believe given the quality of his music, he is probably one of the most underated musicians of his generation. If you've enjoyed his other hits you'll enjoy this as well. This CD will be a blessing to you as it has been to me. .
