I Found A Heartbeat I was surprised, since I did some singing in my youth, that I was so thrilled to hear his voice. I've read so many critical comments about Don Johnson's voice that I decided to get this CD, since I'm such a fan of his acting. Boy, can he bring it! I freely admit to being a female fan who thinks he was not only gorgeous, but was [and is] probably the best actor on the planet. His acting range appears to be unlimited, and the range of his singing voice amazed me. How much you want to bet most of the critical comments come from men. . . jealous, guys? My favorite songs from this CD were Voice On A Hotline, What If It Takes All Night, Heartbeat and Lost In Your Eyes. This CD sure made MY heart beat!.

The origional 1986 version is the collectors edition with only 10 songs. This is the best CD on the market. Remakes were made years later that contain 16 songs but the origional is still the best.
It's not that great of a CD, but the title song has me addicted.
I've come to enjoy Miami Vice, and persoanlly can't wait for the movie (I hope they use the original theme song in it somewhere!), but I wasn't aware of Don Johnson's music until recently when I was looking at an 80s music boxset (I love 80s music, more than other), I think it was called Like! Omigod or something. I wasn't alive back in the 80s when Miami Vice was on everybody's television, but I've grown up with a father who is in love with Don Johnson's suits and have every Miami Vice on recorded VHSes. Anyway, went down to my basement where my parents have all of their CDs and looked for the a Don Johnson album, and sure enough, I found a copy of Heartbeat. I put in my stereo to find that I loved the first song and I hoped that the rest was just as good. Well, in my opinion, it wasn't. I didn't really like any of the other songs. But Heartbeat, the song, is great. It's really addicting. I've read where people say that the only lyrics are "Heartbeat! I'm looking for a heartbeat!" and my parents even told me that, but that's only at the end of the song, which is actaully pretty common. I suggest you buy this album (if you can find it, or just download the song). Don't buy it if you have to pay over $15, but it's worth having for the first song, I think. There are many other CDs that are better than this one, but this one isn't horrible. It would also be a nice collectible if you're a fan of Miami Vice, or Don Johnson, or both. .
A very good album!!! Don's Best work besides Vice!
This is not a bad album!
If anything this sure as hell is better than any of
today's music. I always keep hearing people badmouth this album and
I am sick and tired of it. . . and by that I mean anything made in the
last 16 years.
The best songs off this record are Heartbeat, Voice on a Hotline, Gotta Get Away, and Last Sound Love Makes.
"Voice", and "Heartbeat" put anything out there today to shame!
Also I recommend Don's second release Let it Roll from 1989.
Not as good as Heartbeat, but has a few good tracks on it.
For newcomers to Don's music you should really
check out the Heartbeat video. There's unreleased
songs on the video. One of the unreleased songs
is Street Wise, which was used in one episode of Miami Vice!
.
What did you expect?
Miami Vice was new and contained such great music. At that time Don Johnson was HOT. I bought this album when it first came out because I was and am a DJ fan. It's not a Sgt. Peppers masterpiece, but I liked a few songs a lot. Heartache Away was my favorite. This album is not going to appeal to a large audience but if you like DJ you will like it. .
