Jaci takes a different direction on this one Her powerful, emotional, heartfelt voice captured me right away. I have been a fan of Jaci Velasquez since her debut CD. I thought her second, self-titled CD was brilliant with its breathy, Michelle Tumes like overtones. I did feel she faltered a bit with 'Crystal Clear'; however, there were still shining moments that came through on many of the tracks. Imagine the surprise when, back in 2003, I walked into my local Christian retail outlet to purchase Jaci's new album, and saw the cover of 'Unspoken'! Here was a rugged, almost defiant woman smiling back at me. Clad in a black jean jacket and bluejeans, her long black tresses cropped and disheveled-I had to make sure it was her at first! Quite the makeover. But what about the music? It is still Jaci, no question. However, gone, for the most part, are the bubbling, bouncy, happy pop tunes of old. These songs are stripped down and straight forward in thier delivery. Production is kept minimal, and her voice is choked with emotion. This album is almost uncomfortable to listen to because of its raw honesty. I felt like a priest hearing confession on such tracks as 'The Real Me' and 'Glass Houses'. Jaci means business on this one. She does not flinch in her portrayal of the hurts, pitfalls and shortcomings that one experiences in the Christian life. Judgemental and gossipy behaviour is a prime target of much of her scathing lyrics. Jaci comes across as self-assured, confident and focused in her Christian experience. She knows who she is, where she is going and where she stands with God. No secular sell-out here people! The message is still Christ centered-only, instead of the object of adoration as He has been presented in earlier CD'S, here He is mostly the object of healing and refuge. My personal favourites are 'Unspoken' with its catchy chorus and 'He' with its Spanish Flamenco guitaur and emotional cries. Fantastic! Here is a CD that can truly be described as real, with no pretentions. Jaci has joined such brutally honest artists as Nichole Nordeman in this outing, and it suits her well! Great stuff! If you want to see and hear Jaci in a new way, pick up 'Unspoken' A. S. A. P! .
Unspoken is irresistible
I own a number of the WOW worship collections, but more often than not, you'll find me listening to choral or chant recordings;"Unspoken" is world away from my usual sacred music fare. My tastes in Christian music don't often lend themselves to a more contemporary sounding performer like Jaci Velasquez. Regardless, the first time I heard this infectious cd by Jaci Velasquez, I was hooked! She sings with an impassioned voice on exceptional cuts like "Jesus Is,""Lost Without You,""The Real Me,""He" and "Shine. " This one is at the top of my short-list of favorite Contemporary Christian/Praise&Worship cds. Once you've heard it, you can't help but be taken in by the sound. Give this disc a try. It's a glorious addiction!.
THE BEST CD FROM HER YET!
I DON'T KNOW WHY YOU WOULDN'T WANT THIS. THIS WAS A REALLY GREAT CD! MUCH BETTER THAN KELLY CLARKSON OR EVEN CARRIE UNDERWOOD. IT HAS THE BEST LYRICS AND MUSIC. LOVE THE SONGS;;;;;;;
YOU'RE MY GOD

UNSPOKEN
YOUR FRIEND

Pretty decent
I liked about 5/12 songs on there. i feel as if it isn't like Crystal Clear as many were saying. so yeah. i liked the first three: You're my God, Jesus Is, Lost without You, Real Me, Uspoken
those were my favorites. . the rest were kind of boring and slow. and i agree, her voice was definately lower in SOME songs, but she is still really good. .
Not her best
She once said she was still trying 2 find her style. This is her 7th album. 1st of all, her voice was completely different from her 1st. WORSE. Not as deep and good as it was B 4. The first song is what U would expect for a teen pop performers 1st album. I liked the violin sound of the 2nd song. But that was it. The 3rd song had good beat and lyrics, but her voice ruined it. The 4th 1 is actually really good. Her voice didn't ruin it. The 5th 1 had a really good opening. The 6th 1 is the best! Great opening, very unique and her voice didn't ruin it. But it was 2 short. The 7th 1 was good, but she wasn't putting enough vocal strength in 2 it. The 8th 1 starts out with a gentle techno sound, but just wasn't good enough. The 9th 1 had terrible lyrics, and was pointless. The 10th 1 was alright. I don't have anthing 2 say about the 11th, and the last song. . . Uh uh. My over all problem with this CD is that, it was 2 scattered and just not enough. And her voice.
