Great Ventures Album
It even has Don Wilson playing lead in Rebel Rouser for a switch. This album is a must for Ventures fans. They bring the songs on this CD to life like no other instrumental band could. If you're a Ventures fan and like their sound this is a must to have. I'm sure you'll enjoy it!.

Great new versions of classic songs
Most of these songs weren't even originally done by the Ventures -- and therefore, if they are on a Ventures CD, they aren't the original versions. Yeah, of course these are newly recorded versions of the songs. Deduction!

Anyway, I love this CD. I am a huge fan of surf music in theory, but I have not heard too many actual surf CDs that I could make it all the way through. Most are cheap, repetitive, and too boring to listen to for 50+ minutes. Not this one. The Ventures were the greatest surf guitar group ever, and they still have it as old guys. These new versions, both of their songs and others', rock. The "Tequilla" here is seriously even better than the original hit version by The Champs.

P. S. - If you've never heard "Lullaby of the Leaves," you're in for a treat. It's a reverbed-up and only *slightly* altered remake of their previous hit, Walk Don't Run. It's also probably the only time in rock history that a rehash has surpassed the original. The only other group that came close was the Kinks ("All Day and All of the Night" was just as good as "You Really Got Me").

NOT HAPPY WITH THIS CD
These are not the original cuts and the music is distorted. I was very disapointed with this CD. My other CD's play just fine. I have the originals on LP and these cuts sound nothing like the LP.
I'm still looking for the ORIGINALS on CD.

The Way They Should Sound
Covering some of the best rock instrumentals of all time, the guys sound great on this album. Every cut on this disc is dead on perfect! The Ventures have a sound which is timeless and very much their own. This is the way rock/guitar instrumentals should sound! I've always liked their version of Tequilla, and they don't disappoint here. Hawaii Five 0 sounds as fresh here as it did when it first came out. Put this disc in and you'll be taken back to when rock was FUN and made you feel good. Why in the world these amazing guys aren't in the rock hall of fame is a question for the ages. And, if they ever tour in your area, do ANYTHING to get tickets - saw them in NYC a few years back and they just blew the roof off the place, great music and great showmen! If you love great rock, buy this disc!.
