The most underrated song of the 90's! Written about the high life, the intoxicating combination of women and drugs, this song captures perfectly the Verve's persona, cutting through any commercialism and drilling right down to their very psyche, the thing that makes these boys tick. My band and I listen to this song more than the Verve has and we still agree that it is their best song.
Richard Ashcroft's supernatural vocals soar with haunting precision whilst Nick McCabe's infinite guitar lushes liquid gold over this early piece that was also a live favorite.
Many verve fans agree that it is their greatest and most eloquent song. Sadly radio stations decided against taking the risk of playing an uncommercial song so unfortunately, it became one of the most underrated songs of the 90's, lost in the pop/techno/grunge movement. It became a classic case of the right song, released at the wrong time.
Early Masterpiece
The band's second single is characterized by spacy sounds and straining vocals, these two tracks will blow your mind. The only other place you can find the full version of the first track of the album is on the rare Voyager 1. She's A Superstar is my favorite Verve song, and this single is a must-have.
