fascinating retro-driven pop
each of the songs is a little gem save for 'endless life' goes precisely nowhere. on this record the verve sound an awful lot like a looser, funkier version of barret-era pink floyd. the shorter version of the title track on the group's eponymous EP is probably more satisfying, but the other numbers are exciting ('man called sun' is a vast improvement over the studio version).
