Editoral Review Negatron continues the band's crusade to discover strange new worlds. Voivod has always been one of the most bizarre metal bands in the universe, incorporating cyberpunk concepts and futuristic rhythms in its songs years before Keanu Reeves even heard of Johnny Mnemonic. Even without original psycho vocalist Snake, who seems to have slipped into a black hole, Voivod furiously combs the galaxy, creating atypical space metal that burns like rocket fuel. Negatron is equally abstract, but slightly more melodically cohesive than the band's past offerings, allowing Voivod to rope in curious newcomers without losing its stranglehold on its weird and devoted following. --Jon Wiederhorn ..
