SAVE YOUR MONEY!
I also love jazz. I like Jerry Jeff and the albums he's done over the decades. This CD does not work for me at all! Tempo problems, limp arrangements, and worst of all no spark or energy to the CD. This is as forgettable as the pablum that is called "elevator music".

Compare

This ain't Rock or Country or Balladeering
Go out and buy a copy of Chet Baker "Let's Get Lost: The Best of Chet Baker Sings". Jerry Jeff breaks his own mold and does a great job. Listen to JJ's early influence. Compare the 9 songs common to each CD. He's actually taken the songs up a notch or two. You'll see why Jerry Jeff rocks (jazzes??).

I beg to differ-
He does a lot of excellent stuff, but once you've heard Redneck Mother live 500 times, and four times in one week in Belize it becomes clear that sometimes the artist ain't always about the art. I've probably been to as many JJ shows as you have, and own every album he ever made and probably some you've never heard of and I certainly have an appreciation for his music. I'm as big a JJ fan as anybody, but this one just ain't very exciting.

in regards to mr. frederick maryland
maybe his jazz isn't the best, but he knows the south like you know nothing. being from frederick, maryland, and not from the great lone star state, you wouldn't know the greatness in jerry jeff walker's music. his talent has been recognized by american folk greats like bob dylan - ever heard of mr. bojangles? jerry jeff walker is not just great in texas, but he is regarded as one of the folk music's greatest throughout the south and midwest. learn what you're talking about before you decide to bash a great music icon like jerry jeff walker.

Jerry Jeff Jazz
I have purchased 7 copies for my friends and keyboard teacher!

Thanks JJ!. Great music and band back up! True, heartfelt and raw voice of Jerry Jeff makes this a hit.
