Completely Charmed
It's been an enduring favotrite of mine since it was released. That's what I was when I first heard this album. There are people who seem to think a sense of humor in a rock musician is a bad thing. I can only say I find Joe's willingness to poke fun at himself one of the things I find most charming. ". . just leave a message, maybe I'll call. "

.

A gem
Certainly music still is made that way by a few artists today (the last couple of efforts by the White Stripes certainly fit the bill), but it has been the exception rather than the rule since the mid '70s. This album is a throwback to the days when listeners expected most of the songs on an album to work together, instead of simply being a couple of singles plus filler.

Not every song on the album is "great," but there are no weak links, including the radio hits "Life's Been Good" and "At the Station. " Like some other reviewers, I wore out my LP version of this one within a couple of years and am glad there is a good quality CD available.

It always seemed odd to me that Walsh's fame peaked during his time with the Eagles, but his contributions and influences there show through, even among that group of monsterous egos.

wow, classic!
Though many will disagree with me, I think one listen to But Seriously Folks will win people over. Joe Walsh in my opinion had a solo career that was better than everything the Eagles ever did (with or without Walsh). The songwriting is really at an all-time high by the time Joe recorded this album. Some of these songs are simply beautiful such as "Over and Over" and the very emotionally-devastating "At the Station". Everybody knows "Life's Been Good" but that's NOT the best song on the album. You will probably agree with me once you hear this amazing record. A really good example of Joe Walsh showing the world that his solo career was truly special and worth remembering and cherishing.
