Joe Walsh/Barnstorm The fact that it was remastered made it even better. This CD was Joe Walsh's first solo project and in my opinion his best. I had been looking for a copy since CD's became popular and other than an import this was the first copy that I found that was not overpriced.
Walsh's Best?
I recently purchased this disc and heard it in it's entirety for the first time. I've been a fan since age 15 and Rides Again came out. I had heard most of the songs from assorted best of collections and was really shocked by how GREAT this disc is when played start to finish. It's become the disc of choice when I'm jonesing for some Joe.
Barnstorm
I couldn't believe how great the sound was on it. This is one of my favorite Joe Walsh CDs. No back ground noise and the music didn't drown out the words. Wish there were more songs is the only problem I had with the CD.
Barnstorm is a must have for any music collection
This eclectic mix of haunting melodies, mellow acoustic and edgy electric guitar work remains one of Joe's most satisfying efforts, standing the test of time for over thirty years. Barnstorm was Joe Walsh's first solo effort after leaving the James Gang in the early seventies. Although a short-lived two-record effort, the quartet of Joe Walsh, Joe Vitale, Kenny Passarelli and Rocke Grace produced a catalogue of music that still inspires today. Highlights are the beautiful opener "Birdcall Morning", an alluring acoustic track that builds to a thoughtfully layered crescendo. One of the first recorded versions of "Turn To Stone" appears here in a raw and impactful form with Joe's outstanding licks punctuating the legacy of the original James Gang. "Mother Says" is another familiar Walsh favorite, and leads into a signature Walsh instrumental that carries on in nearly every studio album he created going forward. The haunting "Midnight Visitor" remains a personal favorite for playing around the campfire. This lineup of talented musicians, and here it should be said that Joe Vitale is one of the most underrated drummers in Rock history, produce beatifully crafted songs in an effort that is at once melodic, edgy, and inspirational. Barnstorm laid the foundation for Walsh's solo career, proving that he is so much more than just one of the greatest rock guitarists. Joe Walsh is as talented a musician, songwriter, and arranger as anyone in the annals of rock.
Don't judge Joe Walsh by "Life's Been Good."
You can keep "the hits. I love Joe Walsh. " Joe is probably best known for "Rocky Mountain Way," "Funk 49" and the like, but, Joe Walsh has SO much more to offer. Go back and listen to The James Gang "Rides Again. "
"Tend My Garden," "Ashes The Rain & I," WOW! That side of Joe never got the radio air-play it deserved. Radio missed the boat AGAIN! This album is full of wonderful Joe Walsh music that the masses missed! .
